What an enjoyable conversation with @moderncto_io about a twisty path through tech, fostering empathy for brands with their customers, and how giving autonomy to engineers is rewarding! https://t.co/VxIs04Snk2
@patrickdebois@ranman Feel free to reach out, Patrick. I'm the chief architect for Genesys Cloud -- we've got loads of stories about how we manage hundreds of microservices, thousands of deploys per week, and billions of interactions every year.
Lambda EFS support released at last! This will be a big win for those with large runtimes (looking at you, @TensorFlow) or for non-packaged content like ML models. #awswishlist https://t.co/z9JK8Xnhqm
GREAT WOMAN OF MATHEMATICS: DR. NANCY GRACE ROMAN, 1925-2018. The "Mother of Hubble," Dr. Roman was the first woman to hold an executive position @NASA, the agency's first Chief of Astronomy. Her interest in science was lifelong, supported by her parents but discouraged by 1/7
friendly reminder in times of uncertainty and misinformation: anecdotes are not data. (good) data is carefully measured and collected information based on a range of subject-dependent factors, including, but not limited to, controlled variables, meta-analysis, and randomization
@rbranson 2/ Also, I don't tend to see load continuously diminshing from peak, it often seems more stepwise than that. Not true in your (typical) experiences?
@rbranson 1/ Interesting! In my experience, assuming triple AZ redundancy, you want to run with 40-50% headroom on critical event processing systems to handle data center failure. Expensive, but worth it for some loads and solves the scaling problem somewhat.
@rstephensme Who else has their high school locker combination, the Konami code, and the Saturday cartoon theme song for the Adventures of the Gummi Bears still on tap in active working memory? I feel ya.
So thrilled that @rstephensme from @redmonk took me up on the offer to talk career pathing and life choices with the students at @PearlHacks! "There is no single path into technology."
