As the devastating Ebola outbreak continues to grow in DRC and Uganda, we have begun to see #false#narratives in Russian news media suggesting that the outbreak could be a form of biological warfare waged by actors in the US, including pharmaceutical companies.
The @GPWMDofficial Initiative to #Counter#WMD#Disinfo and the GP’s #SIMBA_BIO initiative expect more of these narratives to surface in the coming weeks. We will continue to monitor the information space.
As the #NPTRevCon enters week 2, recycled disinfo narratives are resurfacing in Rights of Reply: – Allegations of nuclear rearmament – Claims about attacks on ZNPP – “Dirty bomb” accusations
These have been debunked before here: https://t.co/0W4mdEEESK
It also underscored the need for verified information, full technical context and established clarification mechanisms.

At the #NPTRevCon NGO session (1 May), implementation partner @OpenNuclear delivered a statement on RN disinformation.
It highlighted how false or unverified allegations can shape positions before technical clarification, distort discussions and increase polarisation.
Reminder! Our side event at #NPTRevCon#NPT is happening tomorrow. Come join us for a discussion on radiological and nuclear #disinformation. See you there!
It’s Tactic Tuesday! The first Tuesday of every month, we revisit key disinformation tactics to keep them top of mind and easy to spot. Hint: These tactics are often found in pro-Kremlin media and may help indicate it is #disinfo. Today: Use of Misleading “Evidence”
We need to move from reactive responses to resilience in countering disinformation.

In nuclear crises, disinformation can shape risk perception and decisions before facts are verified. Our latest discussion on The Nuclear Table podcast highlights a key gap: RN disinformation is still not treated as an operational risk in nuclear governance. Links below.
Interested in engaging directly? One of our implementing partners @OpenNuclear, will be hosting a side event at the NPT RevCon on 7 May. We look forward to seeing you there!
The @GPWMDofficial Counter Disinfo Initiative is at the NPT Review Conference in NYC to support delegations in recognising and responding to radiological and nuclear disinformation. #NPTRevCon2026#NPT
But the tactic tracker isn’t just relevant to the RevCon. It can be used to identify and monitor disinfo at any CBRN multilateral fora or conference. Bring it along and give it a try the next time you expect to encounter disinfo so you are better prepared to counter it.
Disinformation isn’t a game. But gamification can help delegations better understand, identify and debunk disinfo narratives. That’s why we have prepared a tactic tracker and matching exercise for attendees of the 2026 NPT RevCon to use this week. Here: https://t.co/mAmrIc8R93
Earlier this week, our @GPWMDofficial Counter Disinformation Initiative partners were the featured guests on The Nuclear Table podcast! Check out their discussion on nuclear disinformation here:
The latest episode of The Nuclear Table is out. Disinformation and nuclear risk are on the table. Thanks to my guests @valeriia_hesse@Elinxmb@RayGoughX working on the GP WMD program on disinformation.
