As the devastating Ebola outbreak continues to grow in DRC and Uganda, we have begun to see #false#narratives in Russian news media suggesting that the outbreak could be a form of biological warfare waged by actors in the US, including pharmaceutical companies.
#GPWMD member Canada is advancing nuclear and radiological security through supporting inclusive leadership in the Caribbean. The Global Partnership supports gender responsive approaches to strengthen WMD threat reduction efforts.
Many thanks to the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago and Global Affairs Canada for supporting PGA's successful meeting engaging female legislators (🇹🇹, 🇯🇲, 🇬🇾, 🇧🇧 🇱🇨, 🇸🇷) in promoting nuclear and radiological security in the Caribbean region!

"Chemical emergencies may be rare, but when they do occur, every second counts."
First responders and healthcare personnel from 23 countries came together for #CHEMEXGRULAC — the OPCW's first large-scale multi-component chemical emergency exercise in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Chemical emergencies unfold rapidly and under highly chaotic conditions. At the same time, evolving technologies are reshaping the chemical security landscape and raising the complexity of threats that countries and responders face.
Co-funded by the EU and the Governments of Canada and Spain, CHEMEX GRULAC is a demonstration of what multilateral cooperation looks like in practice — building the expertise, coordination and operational capabilities that countries need to respond effectively when it matters most.

#CHEMEXGRULAC is underway in the Dominican Republic bringing together experts from across Latin America and the Caribbean to strengthen readiness for chemical emergencies.
👩🚒 First responders and 👩🔬 medical personnel are training side by side, each playing a critical role in managing chemical incidents.
Through a mix of theory and hands-on simulations, participants are building the skills needed to respond effectively under real-world conditions.
The multi-component exercise opened with high-level participation from #OPCW, 🇩🇴, 🇪🇺 and 🇨🇦.
On day 2⃣, participants trained with different levels of personal protective equipment against chemicals, experiencing first-hand how operating in full gear makes every task more complex and physically demanding.
By day 3⃣, first responders were training in decontamination procedures, while medical teams worked through realistic scenarios involving patients exposed to toxic chemicals, strengthening their capacity to deliver timely and specialised care in high-pressure situations.

Disinformation isn’t a game. But gamification can help delegations better understand, identify and debunk disinfo narratives. That’s why we have prepared a tactic tracker and matching exercise for attendees of the 2026 NPT RevCon to use this week. Here: https://t.co/mAmrIc8R93

All eyes are on the upcoming 2026 Review Conference (RevCon) for the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). Nuclear risks are rising, and the last NPT conferences could not agree on an outcome.
So what is the RevCon and why does it matter? 🧵
Disinformation distorts risk perception + erodes trust, complicating negotiations. In the NPT context, this impacts nuclear risks. As the 2026 RevCon starts, the @GPWMDofficial Counter Disinfo Initiative will support delegations with tools/insights to counter disinfo. Stay tuned!
