HERCULES (1997) might have the best opening in Disney history.
The Muses immediately take over, the energy never lets up, and “The Gospel Truth” launches the film with more personality than most movies manage in their entire runtime
If I was a better writer, what would be a cool idea for a horror game is for it to be just like this. You spend the whole game thinking God and His angels are evil, destroying your civilization, you can't fight the angels, all you can do is hide. And as you progress more info about your own civilization is made to you about their evil and immoral practices and history. At the end there is a Job moment where God reveals He's given your civilization 500 years to repent of its evil, sending prophets warning of the coming wrath which your people killed and you realize God wasn't the evil one, your people were and they fought against every offer of mercy or repentance and you learn that His judgment was just.
Just saw Disclosure Day
Did anyone else notice that the CGI alien at the end bot look and move completely different from the Aliens in the Archival Footage?
@TheBrandonMorse I've done research into Alien Lore, both for work and personal curiosity, and still remain a Christian
I do find all the psychic stuff in UFO discussions weird though
We are pouring billions into AI data centers so machines can imitate thought.
Then we let the rooms that shaped human judgment, memory, taste, and civilization rot.
This is the kind of data center we should be funding.
You know what's funny?
Space King is one of the few recent pieces of Western media that's overtly and unapologetically made "for men", and it leans so hard into masculinity that it's intrinsic to the humor.
It still has female fans.
Masters Of The Universe:
Alright, I enjoyed it.
The race swap on Man At Arms being typical Hollywood as we all expected, Elba did do a good job. Acted his ass off even. Same with Ram Man.
They kept the corny nature of the plot and characters and openly leaned into it. And the movie took just about every opportunity to make fun of HR and woke retard culture. It uses this to point toward how good masculinity is needed to defeat evil. Which is great.
Jared Leto kept the quirky Skeletor we all love, though the voice being different took some getting used to; but all and all I didn’t hate it.
I’ll give the movie entire a 9/10.
SPOILERS:
Now, the only time I saw a hint of wokeness was what I’m gonna call the friend-zone scene. They could’ve went the route of hero gets the girl and saves the day, but okay.. whatever.
Seems like Teela is giving him signals to make the move, he reacts like a man should and starts to go get her, and then abruptly from her “we’re just friends” which is of course lame and gay.
I do like how Adam is kind of a doofus and slowly figures out that masculinity is both good and what needs to happen to defeat evil. He starts out doing the HR conflict resolution bullshit that he’s been brainwashed to do. But then as he realizes what he’s actually fighting against only uses the HR “let’s talk this out” shit to keep the moral high ground, after his enemies refuse it he goes the f🤬k off and destroys them like he should. I like that, very good writing and character development.
All in all it seems like the writers nailed it that Adam’s real enemy was himself and that he just had to defeat that weak little bitch that society attempts to brainwash into us. In my opinion there did need to be a scene of him pointedly moving on to a new woman interest to shed the simp vibes over Teela. Like, “okay, she doesn’t like me, let’s move on, her loss.” It’s a numbers game as every guys knows, ask, accept the answer, move the hell on.
I also like how Man At Arms has a redemption arc of moving from failure, to alcoholism, to getting his shit together and being a man again. That’s an important message that you never hear anymore.
I think I would’ve liked to see more of Sorceress, mostly because Morena Baccarin is hot, I refuse to explain further. She did do great with the screen time she was given though.
I did like the Dolph Lundgren cameo that was funny.
The music was an 11/10 banger mix, they even played the “What’s goin on” song from the meme. And “I’ve got the power!”, and any movie is immediately made better when Queen starts playing. Let’s hope the new Highlander keeps that last part in mind.
All in all, faithful to the cartoon but still tells a gripping story about moving from failure to a conquerors spirit. And anything making fun of woke retard HR brain rot immediately gets a thumbs up from me. Men are supposed to be reckless and goofy, but also destroy evil in the process.
And I especially like the focus on how evil cannot be reasoned with, only destroyed outright. 9/10 movie, not as goofy as Guardians Of The Galaxy, but just goofy enough to embrace the cheese of the cartoon while telling a serious good vs evil story.
@FountainCartoon Cool
But can I then ask why we didn't see Underwater Palaces for the Chinese Dragons, any references to Native American Dragons, some of who had Feathers (despite the premise of the show), or European Dragons that had their tails on fire (Fire Drake)
