AAA fps games have generally declined by that time. If 343 managed Infinite better, they'd probably still be around and doing fine.

@PrimeStrafe @lastchalice I think it had to do with what some 343 fans were willing to excuse, like no slayer playlist on Infinite's launch, no forge, aggressive monetization, etc. Now that we know about the blacklist it makes sense. The fact that Mint Blitz of all people was on that list says it all.

Basically every 343 game was a soft reboot for the franchise. 343 also caved to certain trends like lootboxes, custom loadouts, sprint, killstreaks, etc.

@PrimeStrafe @lastchalice I played Halo 1-2 without the nostalgia on MCC years later, and thought they were more fun and interesting than 4-5. I never knew they were backwards compatible on the xbox 360, so my nostalgia is more for Halo 3 and Reach.

@ChefandArbistor The forerunner thing retroactively adds new plot holes to Halo 2 and 3, but it's also just less interesting imo. Both the narrative and the gameplay were worse in Halo 4-5 which makes the retcons harder to justify. If it was a definite improvement, people might've looked past it.

@FallToast6767 @JAGtheJager It also took forever for the majority of the armor coatings to become cross-core. Even if you played the events, most of the unlocks would be tied to a specific event core. The game was nearly over by the time I could get a good shade for my Mark 5B. A fairly basic one too.
