@KThomasWDC I don't have one specifically to call out. But I am hesitant to use any EdTech that is overly complicated to use or has a tricky UI. I also stay away from tools that don't have a specific reason or benefit for the learner. #wedt6020
@SJShissler We have some opportunities for students to use Zoom, virtual bingo, etc. We are trying to get our computer and technology club that I advise back and active in a virtual format again. We have also had virtual scavenger hunts for prizes with some success as well. #wedt6020
How has the pandemic highlighted the digital divide that exists with some students after our transition to partial or fully online distance education modalities? #wuedt6020
@Caitlin59492287@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura That's awesome. At least the pandemic brought some good for educators! I also found tons of new strategies, resources, and tried a bunch of new things since we switched to a distance learning-based format. I look forward to learning and trying out even more #wedt6020
@BondanzaDan@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura Absolutely, like all technology when used in the right context and/or in meaningful activities it can be a great resource. Like anything else, if overused or under-developed it could do more harm than good, but when the sweet spot is found it sure can boost engagement. #wedt6020
@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura I look at it as a more modernized way of engaging and interacting with learners. If you spend the time crafting meaningful educational experiences and alter your strategies supported by the data that it allows you to collect it can make all the difference. #wedt6020
@SJShissler@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura Absolutely, gamification has the potential to create more opportunities for learners to be more motivated and engaged. I have found that as long as the activities are well thought out and inclusive, they provide platforms for fun learning! #wuedt6020
@KThomasWDC@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura When my students are having some fun with the content they are absorbing, I feel like they are more likely to place the information in long-term memory. Gamification helps a lot with having more fun, but also just maintaining a positive atmosphere seems to work. Great choices.
@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura An emerging trend I would like to explore in my teaching practice is artificial intelligence. AI is already impacting the future of almost every industry right now, and it will prove to be an invaluable skill set for information technology professionals of the future.
