@ArsenalRealT@cityneil69 You can’t grow organically under the rules.
The only aim for the majority of club owners is staying at the PL trough.
A bit of a cup run and the dream of a CL spot, with the additional millions that brings is just a bonus.
The fans don’t matter, it’s the cash.
@BigRedSulk Yet, the self appointed ‘Biggest club in the world’ have spent a similarly obscene amount of money and had their owners cart millions away, whilst ‘servicing the debt’. …
@GoaterBilly@JimmyMu35984013 Mentioning something that happened? I’m not celebrating. But it certainly benefited their global profile. I don’t know a red that would disagree.
@GSith85@Millar_Colin Because they were given free rein. Best coach, getting the best out of the best players.
United spent as much, but poor coaching and scouting has left them where they are.However, Liverpool won one, and were very close twice. Arsenal have just won one. That’s not competitive?
@MPJMCFC@Millar_Colin And THAT is why they supported FFP.
The owners of these clubs are happy to be at the trough of the PL, without any aspirations, other than the Sky money.
@pr0riku37@Doddsy228904442 Nope. Nothing stopping other clubs doing the same, other than restrictive anti competitive rules that, ultimately, are designed to allow three clubs to dominate year upon year.
@InvertTheWing 11 v 11.
In real terms, very little difference in money spent by City and United.
The world now playing out from the back.
An industrial wasteland turned into one of the best sporting facilities in the world.
A self-sufficient organisation.
This or the other side of town?
@MatchDCentral But fans aren’t.
Why should City be the last to stand equal to the three. Like Chelsea before them, they spent massively, but in a controlled way.
Why can’t Newcastle, Everton, Villa, Forest?
It’s not like they are mortgaged to the hilt, like the ‘Biggest Club In The World’.
@MatchDCentral Laws trump rules.
Anti competition rules are superseded by legislation.
Newcastle, Villa, Spurs et al, those that aspire simply cannot compete against the top 4/5 and will never be able to under the current structure.
Mid and lower table owners are happy with their cash take.
