Over 20 low paid mostly women workers with approx 100 years service meet with high paid kelvin college leaders today to hear proposals to make some redundant, cut salaries by 20% and slash a vital community service. Please retweet. Support Community Lèarning Development workers.
@JRTomlinAuthor@UofGlasgow@UCUScotland @UCUGlasgow @GMBScotOrg @UNITEGU @ScottishTUC They’ve been doing it for years, lowest paid cleaners, catering staff, janitors, security staff, as well as staff such as library assistants have been treated the worst through years of austerity & cuts
A real kick in the teeth for lowest paid staff @UofGlasgow Covid bonus £600 awarded to highest paid staff on £68-100k is 2.4 times more than bonus of £250 for lowest paid on average of £18k who struggled the most- sad, disrespectful & insulting to them🙈
UofG's response to this article contains more lies and victim blaming, claiming 'no reasonable explanation was offered' for property damage. A meeting to explain the damage was followed by an email the next day which stated 'your actions did not directly cause damage to the flat'
and i'm glad that students aren't putting up with it anymore!! but it's ridiculous that in order to do so they have to relive traumatic events & face eviction. disgusting behaviour from the university, especially this year
CN: sexual assault, harassment.

//
This post contains details of this morning’s Glasgow Guardian story.
People who come to UofG halls as students are so often belittled and infantilised.
Government and University managers keep passing the buck to each other on student support.
Our initial calls to cancel rent were directed at towards the UofG management. They told us to turn to the Scottish government told us to rely on our University’s inadequate crisis funds.
Join us tomorrow for the latest #StudentsForPatrick event 🎓

Women Speak Out from the Scottish Asylum System
@GU_SolCol I raised it at my first court meeting in 2017 as Rector that I was the only person of colour on the university court, of course now there are none, didn’t need an investigation to tell them they were all white at court & Senior management 🙈
The neoliberal marketised HE institution is predicated on incoherence, and its hierarchical structures can only foster the violence inherent to capitalism.
Yesterday’s UofG report into racism noted the lack of diversity in management.
And minutes from June 2020’s Court meeting detail the of appointment two white men while saying ‘we need more diversity’
The same meeting they decided investment in arms was OK, while affirming ‘BLM’
@DrSGreenwood @SarahAinGlasgow @drnsheridan There are student groups coming together to have a conversation about this - best to have everyone involved if anyone is keen
