Red flags on a fitness journey: 🚩🚩🚩
"yes my goal physique is enhanced, but..."
"how long for 1" on my arms?"
"Can I only work out twice a week?"
"Which supplements should I take?"
"I prefer not to work legs."
"I want to put on 20kg of muscle and get abs"
Doesn't end well.
Most people take great pleasure in improving their best performance of all time. Who doesn't love curb stomping a PR?
But if your WORST performance is improving...that's progress too.
You'll have good days and bad days. If the bad days are getting better, that's a good sign.
"You probably didn't eat enough, and damaged your metabolism. That's why you're obese and struggle to lose weight. If you just ate MORE, that would fix it. But you have to combine it with this product."
I've heard that, unironically. Always easy to sell what people want to hear.
The obesity epidemic is sad, but not shocking:
-Historical, biological necessity to store energy to avoid starving during famines.
-Calorically dense/hyperpalatable foods literally engineered to be overconsumed.
-Sedentary lifestyles aided and encouraged by technology.
Top 3 most disliked exercises:
-Bulgarian Split Squats
-Front Squats
-Walking Lunges
Funny how they're all incredibly effective. People tend to avoid what is hard, not what doesn't work.
@nolephin Pretty common. Can perhaps try a shorter stride and more upright torso, but ultimately I think some people are going to get mostly glutes here. I'm in the same boat.
Real comment (possibly sarcastic?) on latest Q&A:
"Hi Geoffry, loving the content as always. Could you include some subway surfers in addition to the rest of your b roll footage?"
Apparently, modern audiences need gaming footage spliced in to keep their attention. OOF.
Controlling your eccentrics (~2-4s, nothing crazy) gets you:
-Usually more stimulus
-More repeatable reps
-Generally less joint aggravation
-More out of less weight
Not controlling your eccentrics gets you:
-A bigger number to tell people.
Choice is yours.
ANYONE can get in the top 99.9% for:
-Effort
-Knowledge
-Consistency
Look around.
Most people barely care.
They stopped learning years ago.
They take weeks or months off all the time.
You can easily have top level results because average is mediocre...in any field.
@Sl33per_Agent Agree. Those as well as straps are really the only game changers in terms of workout gear.
Belt is nice but not needed. Wrist/knee/elbow sleeves/wraps definitely not needed.
No product will dramatically revolutionize your results.
Supplements? No.
Wrist wraps, knee sleeves, etc? No.
A piece of equipment? No.
The reality is, money probably isn't what is holding you back from getting to your fitness goals, yet I see that excuse all the time.
@Sl33per_Agent Sure, I suppose. I wouldn't really consider that a "fitness product" though. Once you get into the realm of medical interventions of course some will have significant impacts.
@nolephin Will do at least a few more years of bulking and cutting (probably bouncing between 12% and 20%) but eventually when I think I'm fighting for under a pound of muscle a year I'll probably just maintain and focus on other stuff.
@JonathanMAGA12 It's pretty individual. I prefer lots of starches when bulking up, rice is my personal go to but it's totally different for each person.
@JonathanMAGA12 In my experience you are much better off just eating more normal food. Much better micronutrient profile typically, less bullshit filler. I'm not impressed by most weight gainers. While I don't have any studies on this, I very often see that type of weight gained just be fat.
