David, now in his fifth term as a councillor comes from a long line of local government representatives. His Stepmother was a councillor, his cousin a councillor, in Hillingdon. His late father was a councillor and deputy leader, and I know he will be very proud of you.
It gave me great pleasure to celebrate the inauguration of our new Mayor, Cllr David Gardner and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Raja Zeeshan. I’m under no doubt that they will represent our borough, and its communities, with time, patience and consideration.
Honoured to assume the office of Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich for the municipal year 2026–27.
Thank you for your trust, support and confidence. Congratulations to Mayor David Gardner on his election.
Serving residents across Greenwich.
Great to visit the Volunteer Centre Greenwich stall in General Gordon Square Woolwich today. A fantastic team supporting residents and strengthening our community through volunteering.

How is not having opposition scrutiny chairs "stifling scrutiny"? There are still opposition councillors on scrutiny committees and the agendas are set as a committee. So how is scrutiny being "stifled"?
Just letting local residents know that the Greenwich Peninsula ward surgeries will restart in June at the Rathmore Community Centre and the Aperture Community Centre. Please feel free to contact me if you can't make the different times or days.
🌙 Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating in our community.
As one of the most important festivals in Islam, Eid al-Adha is a time of prayer, reflection, generosity, and spending time with loved ones.
Celebrations take place over several days.💙
An Amber heat health warning is in place in London until Wednesday 27 May.
Please stay safe during the hot weather and check in on older neighbours, friends and family, young children and anyone who may find it difficult to manage in the heat.

Thank you to residents who spoke with your Woolwich Dockyard Councillors about local concerns. One issue raised was overflowing communal bins and missing lids. Pleased to see action taken, with new lids now provided — shown in the before & after photos.
We’ll continue working with residents to report issues and improve our local area. 🌹
We arrived in office with a bold plan to build the homes and infrastructure our country needs.
We’re faithfully executing that plan.
It is beginning to bear fruit.
While the headwinds are growing stronger, we are going to stay the course.
Good to be back in Leeds for @UKREiiF
Thank you to our @metpoliceuk officers, security services and transport staff - who have worked to keep our capital safe and moving this weekend while protecting the right to protest peacefully.
Londoners will always reject those who seek to divide our communities.
Grateful to be re-endorsed as Leader of the Greenwich Labour Group alongside an outstanding team of Labour councillors ready to deliver our manifesto, Making Greenwich the Place to Be.
We’re proud of our record and ready to build on that progress over the next four years. 🌹 🌹
It’s a privilege to be re-elected to serve my home, @Royal_Greenwich Creekside for another 4 years & I’m delighted to be joined by Tillie Muir.
This is the most special place in the greatest borough in London. Together we will keep fighting and delivering for our community.
We’ve lost exceptional councillors today and I want to thank them for their service.
As Keir has acknowledged, the results have been tough.
The electorate have sent us a clear message.
We need to reflect, rally and show that we can change to renew the country as we promised.
I’m a Greenwich boy who loves this borough and wants to see it move forward.
Great to speak to @cblackshaw_ about our Labour vision for Greenwich.
Tomorrow, you choose. Only Labour will keep building homes, improving services & delivering for residents.
