We are proud to announce the launch of an industrial partnership with Generative Bionics, an Italian company focused on the development of autonomous humanoid robots. This collaboration aims to implement a humanoid welding robot designed to operate alongside humans in our shipyards.

As an initial area of collaboration, the project involves the development of a humanoid robot designed to support specific welding activities in naval manufacturing. The humanoid system — equipped with artificial intelligence as well as advanced manipulation, perception, and vision capabilities dedicated to monitoring the welding seam, along with optimized locomotion to operate in complex environments — will prioritize safety, allowing collaboration with workers while fully complying with regulations and without limiting work areas.

This collaboration, which is expected to span a total of four years and is part of our Group’s broader strategy in advanced robotics and innovation — one of the pillars of the Group’s new Industrial Plan — confirms our commitment to developing cutting-edge solutions for a more innovative world of work and future.

The project addresses real #industrial needs: safety, quality, operational continuity and sustainability of work in highly complex production settings.

#GENE01, the Generative Bionics humanoid platform, will be optimized for Fincantieri’s use cases, resulting in a new series: GENE.01/W, for #welding applications. It will integrate AI-based perception, manipulation and locomotion optimized for constrained and dynamic shipyard environments.

The initiative follows a clear industrial #roadmap, with on-site testing planned by the end of 2026 and progressive deployment over the following years, starting with welding activities in naval prefabrication.

The project then advances human-centered #PhysicalAI: technologies designed to support workers in repetitive, demanding and ergonomically challenging tasks, while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Quello della #RoboticaUmanoide e' un settore estremamente complesso, all'intersezione della piu' avanzata ricerca applicata in Meccanica, Elettronica ed Informatica. E partnership come questa con AMD sono determinanti per abilitare l' #EdgeAI, e permettere elaborazioni immediate direttamente nel robot senza necessariamente affidarsi al cloud.

Il percorso e' lungo e la competizione mondiale intensa.
Ma entusiasta di vedere che come CDP Venture Capital stiamo creando un sistema che abbatta tanto tafazzismo ed incoraggi startup come #GenerativeBionics ad osare.
