Outstanding Back to School Professional Learning is happening through my school system @RCSS_GA! Just finished "Are you in Sync?" with @maldo_ch & I'm ready to use what I've learned!
In our 5th grade class we are discussing testing and testing strategies. A question was posed, which style of testing do you prefer for a writing (essay) assessment? #BlytheFierce5th
Our 5th Graders are studying the Great Depression and generated a question. #BlytheFierce5th -Do you think the Stock Market could crash again and put us into another Depression?
A3: Students spend/have more time writing text messages than they have time writing in class - so combatting poor text talk habits is challenging and building writing grit/perseverance for the writing process #caedchat
A1: Writing for today's students includes school-related and personal purposes; typed, hand-written, texting, constructed response, journaling, response to literature, narratives #caedchat
@sandramcaulay72@bcedchat@AlanGratz I agree, a good book can make connections through prior knowledge/experiences and/or build new connections/understanding/learning and overall add to a student's story. #bcedchat
A6: People make connections because a relationship has been built - by knowing a student's story you are better able to connect with them, and they will connect to you and then the school #bcedchat
A4: just like no two stories should be the same. no two student outcomes should be identical. Authentic learning tasks offer multiple solutions #bcedchat
A2- when I hear the word story, my mind immediately goes to the story elements and all the various components that combine to form a story, just like all the events/influences that combine to make a personβs life story #bcedchat
A1: I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an educator, it's something I've wanted since I was younger and I would "teach" my stuffed animals #bcedchat
@PigeonBrooke A4: Yes! It also helps to talk to those same individuals and know that you are not the only one facing certain difficulties in the classroom or with your assignment. #waledchat
@MissMeyerITJHS A3: I agree, the paperwork can get frustrating when youβre trying to increase authentic learning experiences for your students #waledchat
A5: I love the phrase βreframe your situation with positivityβ, itβs such a visually stimulating idea! I often stop and ask myself if the thoughts/words are helpful & will they fix the situation; if not, then I need to move on #IDedchat#BalanceLAP
A2: I think self-care for teachers is important because itβs hard to fill up others when you are empty; but itβs often overlooked because of the naturally giving nature of most teachers. #IDedchat
