Organizations trying to create solutions for people without listening to those people first is a lot like a waiter putting in your food order based on what they guess you would like by looking at you seated at the table. https://t.co/57MXqLKnvV
I'm encouraged by a conversation yesterday with a friend (who owns and operates an HVAC business) where we agreed that understanding people is the first step in orchestrating solutions.
@davidhoang Hand-drawn typography on day 3, wondering wtf I'd gotten myself into. 25+ years later I'm still trying to explain to directors & above at Fortune 100 companies what typeface says about your brand - good and bad.
@svorklab Having many conversations around this. So far, the biggest benefit of Auto Layout seems to be that, if built properly, updates to components do not require manual refactoring (i.e. frames with a vertical "hug" push everything down). The challenge is multiple, nested frames.
@jmspool@chris_kies I've found that UX advocacy happens in many different contexts. Those who are good at it are able to frame UX value in a way that aligns with the background & goals of the audience.
UXDs seeking jobs: if you use filler text like Lorem Ipsum in your design, I'll assume you're too lazy to think about content & how it impacts your user.
I believe investing in people, not companies, makes real change happen.
In 2020, I’d like to sponsor 3 under-represented folks trying to start or finish a degree. $1k/quarter plus mentorship/network access if desired—PLZ RT FOR REACH!
