Juanma Lillo voices concerns about the risk of uniformity in training methods. 'Everywhere you go, training tends to become the same, with everyone favoring the 2-touch game,' he observes. 'When it's 2 touches, play the 2-touch situation; with 3, play the 3-touch scenario; with 5, adapt to the 5-touch scenario; and with 1, address the 1-touch situation. Overemphasizing one concept can compromise the true nature of the game!' โฝ๏ธ๐ #FootballTraining #PreserveTheGame
Raise the floor. Don't just focus on the ceiling.
When it comes to performance, our average days matter more than our best.
It's easy to show up when everything is clicking
But what impacts our success more is being pretty good day after day
Make your okay days better.
@Hutton_Sharp@Byron22911 @LethalSoccer Unfortunately, adequate rest time isn't viewed as a benefit.. I am sure in the battle/overlap of high school vs club there are many injuries that occur from players being overloaded. It is why I don't train during the high school season.. to keep players as healthy as possible

Seeking fame or money (above a certain threshold) does not contribute to life-satisfaction.
Here are 5 principles that do:
If you never stop and question the methods you have copied, you could spend your whole career coaching like someone else.
Reflect.
Become aware of your actions.
Unlearn what doesn't benefit you.
Learn what does.
Make the Essential your Niche.
Simplify your Coaching.
DEAR PARENTS
Do not equate a club having the best players with the club having the best development program.
Many humble clubs carry players from baseline to better in more meaningful ways than clubs with power logos.

@Hutton_Sharp@_ToddBeane I really just can't imagine training youth players in any other way. From keeping kids engaged, what we know about skill acquisition, and the overall enjoyment of the game, realistic sessions make sense.
High-Horse Coaches:
You are not necessary
You are not important to the game
Do not over-constrain or confine individuals limiting self-expression.
You are not a puppeteer.
You are not king
You are supplemental to the game.
You are a guide along their journey, that is all.
In sports, the thirst for competition is just like curiosity in education
Snuff out a child's curiosity, and their love for learning vanishes
When you remove winning from the equation, their drive to compete fades
Remember, winning plays a crucial role in fueling that fire
@Hutton_Sharp Very interesting. I'll have to read the full article. So many variables at play. From how deep an opponents backline is (probably more players behind ball) to the avg # of passes prior to a shot in the box (probably shooting a lot from cutbacks w/ defenders behind the ball)
We have a Pay to Play system because:
Fields cost ๐ฐ
Referees cost ๐ฐ
Uniforms cost ๐ฐ
Qualified coaches cost ๐ฐ
Travel costs๐ฐetc, etc, etc
& with the exception of some of the MLS Pro youth academies, no pro clubs to foot the bill.
There are clubs like @Sheriffs_FC that do all this at the MLS NEXT level for FREE.
If we want to eliminate all costs for youth, thus removing ๐ฐ as a Barrier, follow models like they have
@Hutton_Sharp Next layer to the question is what percentage of goals are scored by exploiting the space behind an opponents back line and what percentage of goals in front of an opponents back line (forcing them to defend deep) via crosses, cutbacks from endline etc.
