@chrismullinexmp I agree. I think that, in the end, the UK’s insistence on being a nuclear power is part of our failure to adjust to loss of world power status - our failure to find a rôle.
@ColinSpenc4257 Hated it at first. I started school in January. Not only was the milk have frozen but the straws - made of waxed paper - would bend and crease, making it hard to suck the milk through them. Got to like it later though.
@ColinSpenc4257 Yes. Central heating became widespread in the 1960s with the development of small bore copper tubing and associated plumbing techniques. I was born in 1950.
Fortunately, Britain has a Bermuda-registered mass circulation newspaper owned by a French-domiciled billionaire, a television station owned by a Dubai hedge fund and a political party backed by a Thailand-based crypto tycoon to remind us of the importance of patriotism
Keir Starmer prosecuted Murdoch, & took the press to Court, jailing some & closing the News of the World. What the press have done to Keir Starmer is bitter revenge .They set out to destroy him from day 1, starting with specs & suits. The same press who ignores Farge's 5 million
@SebastienneL But why should a tramp tramp miles to find a telephone box when a nearby wall, hedge or parked car be just as handy? And they almost all had that smell. If it was tramps, there must have been a lot of tramps about.
@TorstenBell No, it’s not ok. Saying “that’s politics” is to turn politics into a game and it’s not a game. If the terrible T3 believe taxes are up “because of welfare” they have to explain why and how.
@paullewismoney Well, now. Wouldn’t the restaurateurs would say paying staff more would require them to charge higher prices. But then customers wouldn’t (or couldn’t afford to) come and the restaurant would have to close. So isn’t it the public’s fault for expecting a service it cannot afford?
@TiceRichard It’s disappointing when you respond to detailed analysis with name calling.

@CommunistView@KirstieMAllsopp I think it’s more that large, relatively undeveloped and recently rich countries can run more efficient trains than can small, crowded, long-developed ones. I suspect that the Chinese much much less to take account of when building and running their railways.
