Earthquake relief support from the sea:
The @USNavy has a proud legacy of providing disaster relief directly from the sea.
#SOUTHCOM has directed USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28) and USS Billings (LCS 15) to Venezuela to support @DeptofState-led U.S. government relief operations in Venezuela.
USS Fort Lauderdale serves as a floating command center with a flight deck to support heavy-lift helicopters and a well deck to launch landing craft. The agile USS Billings (LCS 15) can provide support close to shorelines, accelerating disaster response missions.

🇻🇪🇺🇸 U.S. urban rescue squads from Virginia and LA are gearing up right now to rush into Venezuela after those massive earthquakes flattened buildings and killed at least 188 people.
These are the same heavy hitters who’ve worked Haiti and Japan 79 members, tons of gear, and search dogs ready to hunt through the concrete.
They literally just ran a full scale quake drill last month.
Disaster hits and the U.S. is already moving. Solid response.
