I love having friends who work for non-profits. They'll be like, "So my boss asked me to—" and it's like, "You mean Beth? From my Promotions email tab??"
NEWS: @Chippendales dancers in Las Vegas are unionizing with @ActorsEquity! 🕺🏼
“In order to continue providing the world-class entertainment that has always been the Chippendales calling card, we need to have a world-class workplace.”
NEW: Disneyland workers are exposing the reality of their jobs.
“The magic starts to fade away and you’re just left with not being able to pay rent, permanent injuries, and management who doesn’t value or respect you.”
Today they start voting on a union to bring the magic back.
Disney seems to think pointing out that Disneyland characters make 36% more than their Walt Disney World counterparts is a gotcha, but considering it's 45% more expensive to live in Anaheim compared to Orlando, it just highlights how urgently the California workers need a union.
I spent the morning chatting w/audience members at the Smash "open rehearsal" about how the actors & stage managers of the show are working on an expired contract. Everyone understands the need to update the Development Agreement for 2024, except, it seems, The Broadway League.
Equity members create the Broadway hits of the future in development sessions, and they deserve a fair contract. Share your support of these actors and stage managers: https://t.co/PF9eKYCzs0
