TIP OF THE DAY
You should not be pushing through pain when exercising. Pain is your body’s way of telling you something isn’t right. It could be too heavy, poor form, or lack of recovery.
Listen to what your body is trying to tell you.
“No Pain, No Gain” is a lie.
Sprained your ankle?
RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) isn’t objectively wrong…. But a far better tactic for aiding in the recovery is pain free active range of motion to increase blood flow and decrease swelling.
Simply put… move your ankle!
Planks are magic!
Want to improve your core strength?
Do a plank.
Want to slow down time?
Do a plank.
Want to elevate your heart rate quickly?
Do a plank.
Want to be awesome?
Do a plank.
You oil a bike to make it operate smoothly, well your body works similarly.
Staying hydrated (drinking water) and keeping your joints moving with consistent activity is the best wait to keep your body operating smoothly.
Functional Strengthening means we strengthen the muscles we ask our bodies to use every single day or strengthen for activities we love doing.
Functional strengthening is specific to ‘You’
A small amount of CONSISTENT exercise every day is better for you in the long term when compared to doing a large amount of exercise only 1 or 2x a week.
Lower Body Zombie Press
Ethan wanted to try this very unusual leg press variation at lunch.
Definitely don’t try this one at home, let’s leave this one to Ethan.
REMEMBER
Progress is not linear.
How you feel today might not be as good as yesterday, but if it’s better then last week or last month… That’s progress.
