@BackIllness@BestTweeterr The left does that a lot. It’s a way to allow more radical ideas to coexist with less radical ideas without it being easy to discern between the two.
@NeoliberalAkiho I love how much right wingers are obsessed with wanting to create art again, and they just don’t do anything good ever. If I was right wing I’d be so pissed.
@seachama@lily72177495@Jook061@weakcorvid “Could be” isn’t being a victim. There’s just no world where this dude’s neighbours are wronged by him being their neighbour.
@AndPvPToo@kuiperbellt If you don’t think rehabilitative justice can be applied to drunk drivers of all people, who on earth do you think does? People who don’t need rehabilitation?
@springweeps in spite of any change, we all are not satisfied with that alone, and feel a deep sense of injustice in our core. He has not suffered enough. This is why rehabilitative justice is insufficient for society. Criminals must explicitly suffer.
@springweeps Here is a man who has confessed to his crimes, admitted to them, repented and made peace with his victim, and has been genuinely attempting to change and be a good member of society for 10 years. This is all fine. The problem is he was never sufficiently punished,
@ellienotnora Yeah obviously, if an entire society shuns a person though you have kind of counteracted rehabilitation and successfully exiled someone, though that’s unlikely and also just how the world works.
@dykeclary And the collective indignation towards this story is evidence that society would not and will not be satisfied with the perpetrator simply becoming a better person. We need them to suffer.
