@NotSoLittleC At some point I was inspired by the idea that someone that went to the same Uni as me made it to my dream company, and to such a position as well! I’m not sure what my future entails, but I can’t thank you enough for your transparency. - It’s absurdly valuable 🙌
@NotSoLittleC hey Chris, just wanted to say first and foremost, thanks for sharing. Blizzard has always been a company I’ve admired as a player and this sheds new light on their internals. 1/?
@samyam_youtube@geoffkeene Yeah absolutely agree, complete projects of course, but the best way to learn is to struggle, fail, and figure out solutions that in turn will be so beneficial to a developers long term growth 😁 Also big fan of your tutorials! Your input system videos have helped so much 🙌🙌
@samyam_youtube@geoffkeene I think a more realistic approach is to not START with your dream game, but rather fail first on smaller projects first! but dream games definitely need to be made!
@sarahdmitchell@Legend_Ori Hey! I’d recommend Unity, cliche I know, but I think it’s best to find a balance between popularity and simplicity - Unity’s a bit of both, with huge community forums and plenty of tutorials - It’s beginner friendly with plenty of tools to keep learning when you’re ready 😄
@Carter_OW Following your story has been a huge motivation in my personal life and in my career as a game developer- huge congrats to you and best of luck with whatever’s next 👏👏
@the_whittington @MatthewMYoung1@DThompsonDev I’d be ecstatic if Im wrong about my timeline, but realistically speaking a company would be taking a huge chance on an international candidate, so with that being said, I see myself having to really earn my place. 👍
@the_whittington @MatthewMYoung1@DThompsonDev Yeah! Currently employed and working on my skillset with a long term vision in mind- realistically it’s gonna take at least a few years as I’m only coming up on 12 months of professional experience in December. Just looking for some insight into how I should approach this! 😄
These last couple of months have been entirely consumed by interview prep, but I did find the time to write a dev-log addressing how I optimised my open-world streaming system.
