Grassroots coach here asking for a bit of help for one of the teams I coach. Even if you can’t donate a share would be greatly appreciated. The football foundation are helping but anything you can spare will make a massive difference to these kids. https://t.co/pJn12D6iFX
@CoachRobPorter@onlyoneamoruso We had to fundraise and get a grant from the grassroots foundation to purchase the intermediate goals. £2500! Will use them for next season at U14 and then have to be sold on. Lunacy.
@Leecosgrove10@SundayShare10 I’ve changed a lot about my coaching by just reading posts, the actual chats and advice from coaches at all levels has been top notch. My team have improved, I’ve improved, knowledge gained by others is being passed on and we all get to chat about the best sport in the world 👌
@CraigRudders This is a fantastic idea. Please let me know if you would like a further discussion on support needed. Happy to share via dm or email. Interested to see what the end product is as my area are crying out for CPD and could use it to nudge the FA into action.
@CraigRudders The online L1 is a money making exercise. Grassroots coaches need
CPD from experienced coaches to embed knowledge on developing players, designing sessions, managing neurodivergence, understanding that our “job” is the development of kids into decent humans that love football
@JPR_25 This is something I've discussed with our local FA on 3 or 4 occasions about offering more in terms of mentorship to grassroots clubs. With Level 1 now all online, new coaches are getting little or no face to face support on how best to deliver effective sessions.
@StevenVent101@TheS_Resource Investment is the key word. Better pitches, equipment grants, high quality CPD for grassroots coaches, local professional clubs investing in the future of football would all be a good starting point.
@Coach__Luca Thanks for highlighting this. It’s a lot of extra for grassroots coaches that often goes unnoticed. Makes it even more rewarding when you break through the barriers and can see things changing.
@Coach__Luca I have so many in my team we should be called Neurodivergent FC. Working hard to adapt training methods, instructions, behaviour management to each individual has been key. Start of the season there were lots of behaviour issues but now we understand each other it’s 100x better
Hi Luca 🤝 I often use a small-sided game as opposed to a line to play the numbers game.
Mindful to mix up the numbers every now and then so they don't always play the same players.
Will share a few other variations in the comments, hope this helps.
If you want your team to attack better, you don’t need endless drills.
You need a small menu of core attacking exercises that cover the whole pitch.
Here are 5 essential attacking drills every team should use. 🧵⚽️
💙 Please show your support for grassroots football U7s coach Ryan 💙
Ryan has been devastatingly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) — a fatal, incurable condition. A loving dad of 3 and husband to Kimi, Ryan can no longer work, leaving his family without their sole income. Their home will also need to change to meet his future needs.
We’re raising funds to support the family, ease financial pressure, adapt a new home, and help them make precious memories together.
This fundraiser will be ongoing, with monthly donations available. 💙 Link to donate - https://t.co/X16AQEaBpk
If you think coaching is just the hour on the pitch, read this slowly.
➠ You plan sessions in gaps between work, family, and tiredness.
➠ You answer messages you shouldn’t feel responsible for answering.
➠ You think about players long after the session ends.
➠ You adapt activities for children who don’t tell you what’s wrong.
➠ You manage emotions that aren’t yours.
➠ You absorb frustration so kids don’t have to.
➠ You second-guess decisions nobody else noticed.
➠ You carry standards without a title to enforce them.
➠ You protect confidence while still demanding effort.
➠ You explain patience to adults who want results.
➠ You stay calm when it would be easier not to.
➠ You notice progress that never shows on a scoreboard.
➠ You leave sessions mentally drained and oddly energised.
➠ You worry if you’re doing enough.
➠ You show up again anyway.
➠ Most of it is invisible.
➠ Almost all of it matters.
Tag a coach who does this without applause.
