On the 12th death anniversary of Maulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari Sahib, I pay my heartfelt tribute to a political stalwart, a leader of repute and a man of immense integrity, whose contribution to the political, social and religious life of Jammu & Kashmir remains deeply significant.
Maulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari Sahib’s contribution went far beyond electoral politics. As a political leader, he gave voice to the aspirations and concerns of his people; as a religious leader, he commanded deep respect and touched countless lives through his scholarship, oratory and service; and as a social leader, he remained closely connected with the people and their everyday concerns. His public life was marked by conviction, engagement and a deep commitment to his community and the wider social fabric of Jammu & Kashmir. His contribution to our political discourse and public life has left an enduring imprint.
As a young political worker, I vividly remember his days in the PDP. I fondly remember his speeches at party meetings and gatherings, where he would contribute immensely to the political thought and direction of the party. For many of us youngsters, listening to him, engaging with him and observing his political journey was an education in itself. I personally learnt immensely from those interactions.
He leaves behind a formidable legacy of political thought, public service and social and religious contribution. I hope @imranrezaansari Sahib will not only safeguard this rich legacy but build upon it and take it to new heights.
Remembering Maulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari Sahib with respect, gratitude and deep admiration.
The CM mustn’t drag his feet any longer & release the sub committee report’s findings as was promised in Dec 2024. There is a deliberate merit apartheid & institutional weeding out of Kashmiris from J&Ks jobs & bureaucracy. Kashmir’s youth deserve equal opportunities & justice
Reports of a bear and a leopard roaming in Nesbal, Sonawari are deeply concerning. Several people have reportedly been injured in the attacks.
I request @indukanwal Ji to kindly direct the Wildlife Department to take immediate and necessary action to safeguard human lives and livestock before any further tragedy occurs.
People are happy that @JKSportsCouncil, under the leadership of @nuzhatjehangir, has deputed a technical team to restore the floodlights at Naidkhai after years.
Thank you, Ma'am. One more technical visit tomorrow should complete the restoration.
Thank you @iNizamUdDinBhat Sa'ab.
Leaders whom @sajadlone allegedly pressured to leave PDP will soon hold a joint press conference & place on record direct account of how threat of Jail & investigative agencies was allegedly used to intimidate & coerce them into switching sides & speak against @MehboobaMufti
Deeply disturbing to see former MLC and senior poltical leader Yasir Reshi
being harassed on call with filthy abuse & intimidation. The caller who set a trap, abused him and recorded it deserves strong action. Politics must not stoop this low.
Respected @MehboobaMufti Sahiba,
As a small political worker of our party, I write to you today out of deep concern for what is happening to honest and hardworking political workers in Kashmir.
Information has reached me through JKPC Spokesperson Ishfaq Gilkar, on record that certain individuals in mainstream politics are actively working to threaten, pressure, and harass me, simply because I dared to speak up against them. The JKPC Spokesperson claimed that meetings with NIA, IB, CBI and other agencies have been recently held at the residence of Sajad Gani Lone, in the presence of Sheikh Imran, to chart out a plan to pressurize and threaten me.
If even a fraction of this is true, then Madam, it is a question every one of us in the PDP and in Kashmiri politics must confront: are our central agencies now taking direction from such individuals with personal scores to settle, rather than the law? Can these political opportunists really dictate who gets threatened, who gets arrested, and who gets let off?
I am requesting you, as our party president, to raise this with the Government of India and seek clarification. Because if this is allowed to stand, it sends one message to every honest worker: step aside and let the worst amongst us run politics.
I also appeal directly to the @OfficeOfLGJandK and the @HMOIndia please verify these claims. If true, ask yourselves how powerful state and central agencies are being summoned to serve the interests of a select few instead of the people of J&K.

Very saddened to hear of the passing of the generous and large hearted Qamar Ahmad or Q, as we inevitably called him. He helped me a lot on my first tour of England in 1990 where I was a wide-eyed novice on most matters. And I won't forget his emotionally told story of going back to the family village in India, while on tour with Pakistan, where he was warmly received with stories of his father. Always greeted me with a hearty laugh. I have only warm memories of Q and I will be surprised if anyone else has any other. Khuda Hafiz Q Bhai. Salaam.
Reliving history. A trip down the history lane.
As a son in 1989, I made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and my father watched. And in 2026 my son Mohammed Emad Gani Lone made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and I watched. Last year my other son Mohammed Adnan Gani Lone made the same walk.
As we grow older, we reminisce and romanticise those younger days of youth. And as we raise our sons and daughters we realise the sacrifices that our fathers and mothers rendered while raising us. We become true sons and daughters, when we become parents.
Today as Emad walked on the stage, I felt it was me walking on the stage. And I was searching for my father, in the crowds. I could not find him. And I had to be content being a father.
And then it dawned on me. Fathers may die but fatherhood never dies. Fatherhood is a rare constant across generations. And that defines the circularness of life

Although I am abroad but couldn’t stop myself., when I found out that CM sahib had met PM sahib.
A a start to the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar. What a joke. There is a sense of timing. Even if we will be lectured now that the date had been fixed earlier., CM sahib should have met after the protest.
Why do I get this feeling. They did the same in 2019. And met the same PM sahib a day or so before abrogation. And I think finalised who will be housed where after detention.
And how often CM sahib loves to crack a joke at the expense of those who voted for him.
I can visualise CM sahib telling PM sahib. Sir we have to do some bit of theatrics. That fake wooden smile. Sir, Uncle must have briefed you.
We will fight for J&K’s agrarian heritage. Dispossessing farmers of their fertile land only to convert it into a concrete jungle makes no sense. Zamindars kept J&Ks economy going during the state’s most turbulent times.
Talib Hussain’s wife & children yearn to see him. He’s been arrested since last week for merely staging a peaceful protest against Forest Department’s illegal demolition drive in Sidhra. Request @manojsinha_ ji to consider releasing him.
