Botswana’s New Employment and Labour Relations Act, 2025 will come into operation from on the 1st of July 2026.

This comprehensive legal reset aims to address complexities of modern employment relationships, informal economy work, and the realities of labour migration.

It repeals the Labour Act in its entirety and establishes a rights-based, statutory floor for all employment relationships in Botswana.
