"We can't rely simply on confirmed cases or daily deaths without putting them into context. Hospital admissions are rising as expected, but deaths are still average for the season."

Very, very concerning to read Macmillan’s report estimating there are up to 50,000 people with undiagnosed cancer.
The diagnosis crisis is my biggest fear as an oncologist. Catching cancer early is so crucial.
The time for reviews is over, we need proper action.
The state of this.
At a time when those dying due to hospital-acquired infections is on the rise & thousands of livelihoods are going to the wall.
Mark Drakeford is trying to silence criticism of his barmy shopping ban. Astonishing.
Wales deserves better than this.
Every week there is more and more attention rightly being given to the growing non-COVID health crisis. About time if you ask me.
Government needs to get its head out of the sand. Quickly.
The virus is a real threat and we all have to take it seriously but we can't ignore the devastation caused by lockdowns.
This is not an argument for a fundamental shift in strategy, those debates have been had.
This article is my plea for more balance.

Mental and physical health are inextricably linked.
Friends and colleagues who work in mental health tell me it's the biggest crisis they've ever faced.
The pain depression, anxiety and all of these issues cause is very, very real. We can't keep ignoring it.
I find this need to rush into more ineffective lockdowns without properly considering the data very concerning.
Look at the situation in Leicester and tell me local lockdowns work. We need a better way.
Getting into lockdown is the easy part, getting out is where it gets very difficult. Is there a medium to long-term strategy? Have we thought about why existing local lockdowns aren't working?
Government's 'lockdown first, ask questions later' policy is not good enough.
⚠️ MPs who ask reasonable, considered questions about the Govt’s strategy should not be accused by Ministers of wanting to “let the virus rip”. We want the Govt to succeed in driving down this virus with evidence-based policies, scrutinised by Parliament, that actually work👇
The statistical insanity continues. Here the PM is also using positive tests per 100,000 people in each area - a worse than useless measure. It’s not the number of people in area that matter. It’s the number of tests done. Hence use positive tests per 1000 tested instead.
