Khachatryan was among the first journalists to expose the alleged use of administrative resources during the campaign, including organized participation of schools, teachers, staff, and students in Civil Contract campaign events. His reporting led authorities to announce the resignation of four school principals.

On Election Day, he also filmed the presence of hundreds of servicemen at a polling station in Sotk shortly before voting ended, as well as unidentified civilians accompanying them inside the polling station. Hours later, Khachatryan was summoned to the military commissariat and notified that he would participate in upcoming 25-day military training exercises.
