@ajebson@Birdyword Why are you telling him that like he doesn’t work for The Economist? Thank you for providing context for other viewers of this tweet!
@rmohamed_yow I don’t think Carney fits with the other three. Carney is a technocrat who begrudgingly stooped to retail politics in order to get elected. The other three are charismatic leaders who win on personality more than they do resume/policy implication. Imo you need a mix of both.
@JJ_McCullough@EricDLombardi The political climate was entirely different. This is an apples to oranges comparison. Pierre was the man for the conservatives 2 years ago but he wasn’t now. O’toole would have been a better man for this election. I still think he would have lost. Carney is a strong candidate.
@JJ_McCullough I think this is in my opinion a symptom of modern conservatives leaning so much into flimsy populist talking points. Most modern conservatives would do very poorly when their points are cross examined. More principled messaging would not fall victim to this.
@JJ_McCullough That being said the Liberals have absolutely leaned into the Trump stuff like crazy. Imo too much so. Distracts from the fact they are running the better candidate with a reasonable policy platform.
@JJ_McCullough The effect Trump has had is overblown. People like Carney outside of the Trump stuff. He is a more qualified candidate than Pierre and anyone should prefer Carney over Pierre concerning foriegn relations. Trump helped the liberals but I think it would be close regardless.
It's a terrible, awful, unthinkable mistake, that @BarackObama & @JoeBiden are remaining silent during the past sixty days of brutal insanity.
Democrats continue to observe "custom" and "norms" during a time where Republicans are destroying the rule of law.
It's why we lost.
@RaquelDancho Disappointing to see you post this Raquel. I am a member of your riding and would hope my MP would have enough foresight to know that the election will be announced within the next week. I will bet my vote that it is…
A lot of people are applauding , praising @JustinTrudeau including people who previously disliked him or worse (as pointed out in the editorial below). I've asked people why they hated him so much, and the answers were often vague or downright false (not smart, communist dictator), driven by feeling more than intellect. So maybe it's time to consider that many of us Canadians were successfully influenced by a nefarious social media campaign to hate our Prime Minister, and then, when we came face to face with the man in this crisis, as opposed to memes, the reality of who he is turned out to be something quite different. Social media can be used to manipulate us all. #cdnpolitics #CPC #Liberal

Our societies are too enslaved to market logic, and everything risks being subject to self-interest and the quest for profit. Volunteering is prophecy and a sign of hope, because it bears witness to the primacy of gratuitousness, solidarity, and service to those most in need.
