@TageForHart@jbfoy4 Let’s be honest here. TT was third best prospect at time and it worked out so well. Sabres took two cap dumps in that deal. They got a first but zero sweetener if Blues won cap and landed a 31st overall who is a bust. Bad trade at time. TT saved it.
@Joe_McCoy12 Mind-boggling Leafs fans don’t think prospects playing at 20 in junior a KHL prospect, 28th overall pick doesn’t compare with a bonafide NHL power forward locked in long -term.
@NotTheJoeMarino The 1st is far less valuable today. And Buffalo 1sts will have far less value in future. Nobody is betting on those picks to be anything but bottom third of first round now. Price of being good.😊
@AndrewHeaters More than half of 50-goal season that year in Buffalo. Doesn’t count? Sure. You are trying to maximize value at time of trade, Buffalo didn’t come close. On Eichel, quantity for quality. Happens every time trading a star. And GMKA did ok. BTW, Eichel wins a cup in Buffalo? Sure.
@AndrewHeaters You should be introduced to the Grant Fuhr deal when we gave a first round pick and a 50-goal scorer for a washed up goalie when we had a Hall of Fame goalie just sitting on the bench that didn’t get to play right away costing us a playoff series.
@AndrewHeaters Okay fella. The point is they traded from a possession of weakness when he was injured and they got some decent value. Unlike O’Reilly. They got fleeced there. Everybody loves the deal because of Thompson but that was a fluke outcome.
