Proud and honoured to join Claudia Chender (@ChenderClaudia) today at Dr. Rod Wilson’s campaign office opening in Halifax Armdale today!
It was great to meet so many of @Rod_Alive’s fabulous Halifax Armdale volunteers.
Stay tuned for an announcement of our Halifax Chebucto campaign office opening event, but we are excited to report that we have now moved into our new office (the former “Finsbury Market” on Chebucto) and are getting it set up and ready this weekend.

So excited to be running in Halifax Chebucto with @ChenderClaudia and the @NSNDP!
I’ve been out knocking on doors in Halifax Chebucto along with my friend @GaryBurrill (who isn’t re-offering this election, and whose big shoes I hope to fill) this week.

The Eviction Control Act, a Private Member's Bill the @NSNDP has presently before the House, would do just that – in part, by banning the eviction of lower-income seniors until there are places in seniors/public housing for them to go to. The Conservatives should pass it.
Andrew Rankin and Tom Urbaniak are right: the rooming house renoviction on North St. shows the intense need for measures to help people be able to stay in their places. https://t.co/EktmRUIliJ 1/2
“Seniors’ poverty in Nova Scotia is the worst of any province in Canada, and over a quarter of those who are homeless for the first time are over the age of 60. The government cannot continue to evade this,” said @GaryBurrill, spokesperson for Seniors.

The Houston government scrapped the Coastal Protection Act.
Instead they've reduced coastal protection to handing out bookmarks.
@GaryBurrill is speaking to this now: https://t.co/aBdbw2dZDg
Fixed term leases are no longer a loophole. Landlords are being incentivized to use them so they can raise rents.
The Houston government must fix this. @GaryBurrill#nspoli
Houston is refusing to protect Nova Scotia's coasts.
They put the Coastal Protection Act off for years, and now they've killed it.
This is badly needed legislation to protect communities and our coasts. #nspoli
Real rental market regulation — not the current cap-less rent cap — would make a tangible difference in the numbers of people forced to live outside. https://t.co/f80JfsDXI2 2/2
Alec Stratford is quadruple bang on in his op-ed in today’s Herald. The right to a satisfactory return on one’s property investment does not trump the right to a decent home to live in. 1/2
It's Sexual Health Week and we are renewing our call for free Birth Control for Nova Scotians!
With costs rising, being able to pay for contraception is a barrier for more and more people.

A shelter is not a home. An eviction notice on a tent is not an affordable housing plan. A no-cap rent cap is not what a decent government would provide.
Provincial government offices in Halifax, Hants, Colchester, and Cumberland counties will remain closed today, Monday, February 5th, due to weather conditions and storm clean-up.
Congrats to the workers at Pete's who held out on their strike for weeks and have a deal in place! Union power, worker solidarity, respect @seiulocal2can https://t.co/1qteflCUHl

The NDP is pushing for legislation to prevent Nova Scotia landlords from introducing no-pet policies as a way to circumvent the provincial rent cap.

Pet evictions are a growing trend. Landlords make a new rule banning pets, families are forced to move, and the landlord can raise the rent on the unit.
This isn't right. @GaryBurrill asked the government what they will do to stop it.
