@Rory_Talks_Ball More sad than angry now. They just forgot to check whether Enzo Fernandez was offside. They checked every other player and every phase in the build up but not Enzo. Only checked Enzo to see if he had touched it as it would have meant Haaland would have played offside.

If Enzo was onside he would have been nowhere near the ball. Martinez would be able to go across to try to block the ball or block Haaland's shot. Lammens would not have dived to anticipate a touch by Enzo.

VAR checked the referee’s call of no goal for offside – and determined that Haaland was in an onside position and recommended that the goal was awarded.

The VAR also deemed that while in an offside position, Fernandez didn’t play the ball.
