Today I read that the below PROPERTY cost the municipality in the North West a casual R38 million to construct… 😵

This structure in Vryburg will be used as a brand new call centre. The tender for this project was awarded to the company wCyber Solutions who are based in Sandton, #Johannesburg.

Over and above the R38 million box that you see below, the call centre costs the municipality R1.4 million monthly to operate with the right equipment. Most of this equipment has not been delivered yet, however, it is being paid for promptly on a monthly basis.

Some of the equipment includes R258 974 per month for 8 Lenovo desktops and R3 758 per month for 8 computer mice. That means that the municipality pays R469.75 for each computer mouse, per month. To put this into perspective, the once-off cost of an entry-level Lenovo computer mouse is R300.

To date, the call centre has not performed any services yet - however it does not miss the payment of a monthly recurring invoice. To top it all off, there is another call centre in the same yard that is fully operational and has full-time staff employed to work there.

Currently, the City is arranging materials that will enable plumbers to effect repairs. Roaming water tankers will be arranged as an alternative supply for water for the duration of the interruption.

The City pleads for residents’ patience during this interruption period.
