We are building cities wrong.
And we've known it for decades.
The average American commutes 27 minutes each way.
That's 200 hours a year sitting in a metal box burning fossil fuels to move one person.
Urban heat islands are making cities 10°C hotter than surrounding areas.
Flooding is getting worse because we replaced permeable soil with concrete.
Housing costs are rising because zoning laws prevent density.
None of this is natural.
All of it is engineered, by choices made in the 1950s that nobody has had the political will to undo.
The solutions exist:
Mixed-use zoning. High-speed rail. Green roofs. Permeable pavements. Underground freight.
Which city is doing it right?
AI will eliminate 92 million jobs by 2030, and create 170 million new ones.
Net result: +78 million jobs.
But here's what the headline misses:
The jobs eliminated are mostly low-skill, low-pay, entry-level.
The jobs created mostly require skills most people don't yet have.
It's not a jobs crisis. It's a skills crisis.

📰 Why 40% of people are avoiding the news, according to a psychologist.
A recent analysis reveals many are steering clear of headlines because:
• It puts them in a bad mood
• They feel overwhelmed
• They feel powerless to make a difference
This “news avoidance” trend highlights the emotional toll of constant negative coverage and raises questions about how media affects mental health and civic engagement.
