The past few months have been a whirlwind for Vesselly, in the best way. This thread's got some @checkoutsummit photos and a few other bits and bobs. A strong favorite being the forehead tattoo😂A close second is the first prototype of the Vesselly Scale Award(:
Checkout Summit was excellent. Here are my reflections about the event, and what it means for WooCommerce more generally:
- I was particularly impressed by Rodolfo’s organization of the conference. Despite it being his first event, he thought through every detail, with lots of extra touches such as lifts from the airport, a scavenger hunt, and fun quizzes by the sponsors. (He was actually too generous and paid for things he didn’t need to - I really hope he made a profit as he definitely deserves to.)
- I’ve felt for a while that the WooCommerce community is far too small given the platform’s importance. While that’s still true, Checkout Summit showed me that there are plenty of awesome who are passionate about making sure WooCommerce succeeds well into the future. As well as the usual old-timers, I met several people who have recently discovered and committed to building their businesses on WooCommerce which was lovely to see.
- I already knew that lots of talented people work at Woo, and the ones who attended were infinitely patient in listening to feedback from the community 😅. I hope Woo’s senior management listens seriously to the messages they bring back and puts the suggestions into action.
- One thing I love about the WordPress and WooCommerce community is how welcoming and inclusive everyone is. At the airport on the way to Checkout Summit, I met a guy who recognized me from my speaker picture (😎). It was his first event and he didn’t know anyone. 2 days later, absolutely everyone knew him and it was as if he’d been part of the community for years ❤️

Everybody is trying to sell u their blueprint to building a house without having built a house in their lives. Don’t trust these Wessels. Most of these people are fear based narcissistic humans whom you should not look up to. Only trust people with proven battle scars.
