ONETHING: Is 36-38, Pa 117. Rebellion, self-centeredness, violence, idolatry - none of those are God’s way! So God allows judgement to fall and chaos ensues. However a new king brings hope again. God judges and God gives hope. Look up!!
ONETHING: 2 Sam 16-18, Ps 91. Even though Absolem, David’s son, betrayed him, sought to take the throne from him, was estranged and planned to kill him, David still loved him & mourned deeply when he was killed.
ONETHING: 2 Sam 15-18, Ps 90. Amnon raped Absolam’s sister, Tamar, after luring her to his house with a lie. Amnon’s advisor had suggested the lie to him. Wonder if godly advice would have made a difference? Would Amnon have listened? It was a choice then & still is now!
ONETHING:2Sam8-12, Ps89 - pivotal verse in David’s life - “In the spring, at time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab with the king’s men & whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites & besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.” See any issues? Read 2Sam 11.
ONETHING: 1 Samual 28-31, Ps 86. Fear, panic, disorder - what does that do to us? Look at Saul & David. Saul turned self centered, prideful & had do it myself attitude. God was silent. David turned to the Lord for help. He was humble in his time of need & God blessed him.
ONETHING: 2 Sam 4-8, Ps 88. David, anointed King of Judah & Israel, united the divided kingdom. Additionally he conquered Jerusalem which was called Zion & established it as City of David. He brought Ark of the Lord to the (Tent) Tabernacle there. It was a bright & hopeful time!
ONETHING: 2 Sam 1-3, Ps 87. Saul died in a battle with the exact people God told him to rid the land of when he became king. There are always consequences to disobeying God. Saul never understood that because He never actually believed or trusted God. Are we like that?
ONETHING: 1 Sam 25-27, Ps 85. There is no time in life to think we have “overcome” sin! It’s easy to “think” we are good and everything we are doing is right! That’s pride! Ask David and Saul! We must never lose our need for God every day in every way. Seek Him! He’s there!
