The fact that "Church was fun" seems to be the best compliment we now consistently receive for a great service worries me much.

I can't imagine Paul preaching night and day with tears in his eyes and zest in his soul, only to always hear his audience say, "Church was fun today"

Church can even be fun on some occasions, but the fact that when it isn't fun( Whatever that even means) many people notice it and complain suggests that fun is now the main essence of our gathering.

My major worry is that too many people think that the word of God preached alongside worship and prayers rendered to God for a couple of hours every week is too boring, and that we need to spice things up to have a better church experience.

The first church service closed with sinful men trembling with conviction and asking...
"What shall we do to be saved"?

The average church service closes with everyone reminiscing on how much fun we had.

Don't ever believe the idea that you have to lower standards and absorb worldliness to reach the younger generation.. You adopt that ideology at your own expense. The hunger for God and thirst for his presence and power is universal and trans-generational. Every generation seeks the real stuff, the true substance. Those who play the compromise game to win some will eventually lose all. Whatever you compromise God for, you eventually lose it.

In the next ten years, we will have to grapple with something. The ideology of getting results without necessarily having theological depth will take it's toll and the pentecostal movement will have to steer its ship with wisdom.

True light always produces results, we also understand that there is an intellectual form of light in the things of the spirit which can show itself in eloquence and great knowledge of scriptures without necessarily having the eyes of the heart opened to see the shape of God and actually hearing his voice from the word.

This form of knowledge produces leaves on the "fig" tree without fruit. However, in an attempt to make the distinction, many have felt "results is the name of the game," and, as they say, its not about speaking English.

This may have opened us to something where people seek the spectacular without solid scriptural basis nor see any need to be students of the scriptures.

A movement without depth in knowledge will be emotionally driven open to lies and will suffer at the latter stages.

It's time to get the balance Jesus spoke about saying in Matthew 22:29

"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."

Both are needed, and the absence of one or the other should raise eyebrows.

The role of the Church in politics and governance is not democratic but moral. (Part 1)

The kingdom of God's government and power is not democratic in nature but moral and result oriented. It is God's power demonstrated in character and by results.

The reason why it can not be democratic is that democracy is a rule by the majority. If we therefore have a society where 85% of its population are aethists how then will the influence of God be wielded when they will always "lose" at the ballot box.

The book of Daniel gives us a clear example of how God designed his kingdom to function in power within the world system.

Daniel and his friends, through a system of peer accountability and focused and a result oriented approach to life, produced what was humanly impossible in a hostile culture.

They defied the ordinary with a clear-cut supernatural lifestyle.

Starting from the first chapter, we see the signs, the two edged sword. First moral uprightness and secondly a result oriented lifestyle.

They stood their grounds on the conviction of their consciences but also declared they would come out as the most productive citizens in the land.

The combination of these two (character and results) is our witness to the world and how we change culture. This is how even when God's people are in a place where they are significantly in the minority, they can change the kings word and reverse hostile decrees.

Daniel stood up for his beliefs, but you also had a long list of results that no one else in the environment could match, a supernatural lifestyle.

This is where the Church should be playing. Can we boast of holding up to moral ideals in the workplace and at the same time being more productive than any other person in the market place.

If we are sincere about national transformation, this is where we begin. This is what we need to teach.

It appears that when public money is stolen, there is no distinction between the sinner or the saint. Religion doesn't matter there.

Our position should be high moral standards that can not be compromised, and at the same time, we are at the best on the job with ten times more understanding.
