Then came even more ridiculous claims.

They questioned every trophy he lifted, every goal he scored, every assist he created, every individual award he won. Nothing was ever allowed to be his own achievement.

And yet, despite all of that, reality keeps refusing to cooperate with their narrative.

Every national team they rallied behind to stop Messi ended up going home.

Every plan they made to see him fail collapsed.

Their final hope was Mbappé. They wanted him to overtake Messi in the Golden Boot race, dominate the tournament, and become the new face of world football.
