There has never been a more beautiful metaphor for the aspiration of peace and reconciliation in Ireland than the Irish Tricolour. We often talk about green v orange, but rarely about bridging them together in peace.
The Tricolour symbolises that.

@mikenesbittni@GlensChels You still haven't explained the story behind your current pic? I keep assuming it's a scruffy pic of you as a college student from the 70s
@CommanderMP Yes, actually. How about:
Full integration of Irish language similar to Wales/Scotland
Stronger all-Ireland cooperation on economic and social matters
All-Ireland sports representation incl football
Provincial Ulster flag
That's how you make the Union appealing to CNR comm
Northern Ireland is 100 this year. It was created through the threat of loyalist violence and now it looks like it will be undemocratically maintained through the threat of loyalist violence. I thought you mellowed as you grew older?
NI Affairs Committee Chair Simon Hoare, MP, is left virtually speechless as LCC member, Joel Keys, says, in the context of loyalist rejection of NI Protocol, he "wouldn't rule violence off the table".
Northern Ireland is *not* a place apart.
Also NI. Funeral, funeral, funeral, protocol, protocol, protocol.
Meanwhile one fifth of population waiting for 1st hospital appointments.
Orthopaedics, neurology, rheumatology 6yrs+ waits.
All perfectly normal, nothing to see here.
This is the "precious union" @duponline, @uuponline, @UnitingUK, @WeMakeNI and others want us to be part of. They tell us we can be Irish, nationalist and Catholic and part of the UK. Unfortunately NI was created to keep "fenian bastards" out.
@Caitlin_Burke7 The reality is SF are haemorrhaging votes in Derry because the candidates, especially Elisha Mc Callion, are seen as arrogant and are taking their mandate for granted. Someone needs to be accountable for the shite electoral performance and if that is the two current MLAs so be it
Moreover, why would any democrat celebrate the creation of Northern Ireland? It was coercively created through a contested partition, in which violence and the threat of violence trumped democratic politics. It was a demonstration of how physical force can prevail over democracy.
