The lovely library full of bean bags and comfy places to hide with a good book in my home town got shut down when I was a teen. A new one opened, clinically clean and full of computers, never saw anyone in there. I only went a couple of times, but didnt want to read at a desk.

Someone once told me "you can teach a student a lot about a little, or a little about a lot" there's so many ways to read this. But should we cover more content in less detail, or less content in more detail?

South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu received the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent struggle against apartheid. This global recognition boosted the international anti-apartheid movement and highlighted South Africaโs racial injustices.
The real issue isnโt that we donโt have enough teachers - itโs that too many qualified teachers have been driven out of the classroom.
To make teaching a job that is compatible with family life again, we must:
- Tackle unsustainable workload: driven by large class sizes, high levels of pupil need, inadequate resources, and too few support staff. FUND EDUCATION
- End the regime of fear: scrap Ofstedโs punitive inspection system that inflates workloads. Halt the Nandos score card.
- Build in flexibility: guarantee at least 20% PPA time (with the option to take it from home), and allow staggered starts.
- Recognise teaching as a gendered profession: every school should have robust policies covering maternity, menopause, and conditions such as endometriosis.
- Raise pay: salaries must be competitive with other graduate professions.
