Stratford/ QE Olympic Park in the media discussion once again - excellent resource for GCSE urban & Paper 3 and A Level Urban/ Changing places

Since my 2nd year of teaching I find the most useful way to note feedback is have a blank copy of the exam paper and as I mark, I make notes of the good and the bad - names of great answers who I need to celebrate or common mistakes which I need to readdress or even fully reteach
@fiona_616@pumpkinfaeries@adamboxer1 I always felt the admin took over my allocated HOD time and the T&L was what I could squeeze in - or done in holiday time because it generally didnโt have a deadline and something I did because I wanted too rather than directed by SLT
Lovely start to summer term โ๏ธ

Brazil launched the "Amazonia" tourism brand for one of the country's largest regions.
It was made with letters composed by the Amazon river and captured from a satellite.
#GAConf26 is always a highlight of my Easter holidays filled with great opportunities however - this Easter Iโve been a bit busier - buying my first home!๐
So today instead of inspiring lectures itโs cleaning dust and unpacking boxes ๐ฆ
An update to my Superpowers 'Beyond the Specification' resources to include the new 'Clash of the Superpowers' documentary on BBC iPlayer. Question sheet & answers too๐

China can't buy oil because Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz and so they will buy it from the Russians. Russia will make a lot of money from this war. If Zelensky doesn't reopen the Friendship Pipeline, we Hungarians will have enough oil. But where does Europe get oil from?
@MarineTraffic is also an easy GIS tool to show containerisation, globalisation, and of course today - geopolitics and how geography is at the centre of it all. #HormuzStrait
@flightradar24 has always been one of my favourite underrated tools to teach, Geopolitics and globalisation - a great way to make quite complex ideas brought into every day contexts. Today this can be seen - more so than ever.

One of my favourite topics is superpowers - and how they change. This is geography diamond of an article - even has lots of GIS!

What are popular rewards for your classes? Finding something desirable and age appropriate for secondary is hard.
TikTok shop (ยฃ1~ for 100) travel stickers are going down a treat - but have to be hard fought for - best in test, most impressed byโฆ best homework etc
@robbeorn Itโs going to be hard - but it might be worth it. I know CAs who would love opportunity to grow their career and become more specialised. I also would love to have more voice in where and when I need extra help with SEN pupils.
Today with my lower band Y8 (Y7 in Eng) we turned to creative writing (not just for English lessons!) but instead using OS map symbols to help to tell their stories ๐บ๏ธ๐
Was so pleased with how they did!
Spotted one of my pupilโs folders had these stickers on them and I thought it was a genius was to support pupils like her who have organisation issues - so simple and very effective in telling her immediately what days her books are needed.
Canโt remember who or where I saw these writing frame strips but I find they are the best way to get my reluctant Y9s (Y8 in England) to do extended writing - this terms topic - population and the one child policy. ๐จ๐ณ
@polleyk2 This was done with a bottom set - Y8 (English y7) and for them this rounded of the topic nicely - with 0 pressure of writing and recall but also supported fine motor skills, problem solving, understanding shape - such important learning aspects which sometimes get neglected.
