Keeping an open mind is not about lacking moral conviction. It’s about maintaining intellectual humility.
The people who leave their echo chambers are the ones who know their knowledge is incomplete.
A key to lifelong learning is engaging with others who disagree with you.
It's time to stop dumping thankless tasks on women.
Women get more asks than men to serve on committees, plan events, and take notes. They're more likely to be penalized if they say no—and taken for granted if they say yes.
Work should be divided equitably by role, not gender.
Few arguments are resolved by landing on the same page. Most are reconciled by recognizing that reasonable people can hold different views.
The highest goal of disagreement is not to determine who's right. It's to maintain mutual respect and gain mutual understanding.
Acts of kindness that feel small to us have a big impact on others.
Research: kids and adults underestimate how tiny acts of generosity lift others' moods.
There's no easier way to make someone's day than to offer a compliment, give a little gift, or send a handwritten note.
Judging people by their current abilities masks their future potential.
Progress depends less on talent than motivation and opportunity.
Growth is not about the natural gifts you have—it's about the character you build.

I wonder what the results would have been if Canadians had been asked if they support spending billions on office buildings for workers who can do their work from home.
We miss out on opportunities when we only ask what could go wrong. It's also worth asking what could go right.
Change carries risk: we might fail. But sticking to the status quo also brings risk: we might fail to grow.
It's better to test and learn than to never test at all.
@NCRloriRCN @Tina_Varvaresos Not your bad... your point is important and we will get there. If we must take 3 steps back before taking 5 steps forward, then so be it. First some of us need to get through the shock and denial phases though 🙃
So most everybody I talk to hates this return to the office announcement but it is actually interesting to see what folks focus on. It really depends on their backgrounds, both personally and professionally. Let's go through the list:
@NCRloriRCN @Tina_Varvaresos Ensure equity and inclusion by being truly hybrid and by supporting managers - Not by forcing a one size fits all approach. Will it be considered a success if a neurodivergent ee goes to the office 3 times per week just to lock herself in her office and have meetings online?
This #rtomandate will have an adverse impact on employees that found their groove and flow when given flexibility and agency, regardless of EE status. We were truly heading towards an 'inclusive by design' workplace but now we are back to the drawing board.
I'm also saddened by the utter lack of transparency, data-driven decision-making, and courage demonstrated by our senior leaders. Though economic pressures are high, the bigger losses that will flow from this decision will have repercussions for decades. #rto
I have so many feelings re. today's announcement about #rto mandates for public servants... but mostly I am disheartened by the missed opportunity to truly be a leader in the promotion of inclusivity, accessibility and equity.
Once again we are reminded of just how disconnected the #GC decision makers are from the reality many employees face. A culture of belonging doesn’t happen in workplaces that are racist, exclusionary and designed for ableism 1/
This is what I told the government when I heard about their back to office policy.
I want every public servant to hear me clearly: I see you. I’m sorry that you’re being treated so unfairly. I’ll stand with you every step of the way until you get the respect you deserve.
What a blow to equity in the #GC, to hiring people across the country, allowing people with disabilities and people of colour to work safely and freely from their homes with less discrimination.
What a blow to all of us trying to keep ourselves and our sick family members safe.
“When we force employees to come back into the office, it can have an isolating effect on some. For working parents, disabled employees and many historically underrepresented groups…” @globeandmail https://t.co/RfCy6rmwwM
