Official Statement of the Proud Boys

The Los Angeles Chapter of the Proud Boys hereby issues the following official statement regarding the unauthorized formation of the so-called “Hollywood Chapter” by John Mellis.

The Hollywood Chapter founded by John Mellis is not sanctioned, recognized, or authorized by the Los Angeles Chapter of the Proud Boys. Furthermore, the worldwide entity known as the Proud Boys is in full agreement with this statement and likewise does not recognize or sanction this illegitimate chapter.

The so-called Hollywood Chapter was formed illegitimately and outside the established authority, guidance, and procedures of the Proud Boys. As such, it has no official standing, legitimacy, or authority within the organization.

John Mellis was formally expelled from the Proud Boys and is no longer a member in any capacity. He possesses no authority to establish chapters, appoint officers, represent the organization, or speak on behalf of the Proud Boys.

The Los Angeles Chapter (As well as the Proud Boys as a whole) believes that this unauthorized chapter is a deliberate attempt to fracture and divide the organization, motivated by John Mellis’ desire for personal fame and recognition rather than the advancement of the mission and values of the Proud Boys. His actions do not reflect the principles, integrity, or leadership guidelines of this organization.

The Proud Boys remain united in purpose and values. Only chapters that have been properly authorized through the established relationships are recognized as legitimate.

Only chapters listed at https://t.co/87gdrx1P7z are authentic. Any chapters listed at https://t.co/zS3lCpaRbD are to be regarded as rogue and counterfeit.

Members and supporters are advised to disregard any claims of authority made by John Mellis or by the unauthorized Hollywood Chapter.

This statement represents the official position of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Proud Boys and is fully supported by the worldwide entity known as the Proud Boys.
