Currently (a) in Zürich (b) sipping an Apple Spritz while (c) the International Ice Hockey Championship is happening here and (d) dealing with some juicy ass drama on the Ukrainian side of my family. You’ve caught me at a very GCU boys time in my life

very happy that Leléka Ukraine made the top 10!! unfortunate that it was 9th, but you are the winner in our hearts!! Alicja from Poland deserved so much higher. And if you are pure of heart, Monroe from France was in the top 10!

[x - Роман (Roman) 🇺🇦 | Слава Україні @GenZFanfix]

@zoespjorants oh! well still the fic is wonderful so far. I can't wait to read yours!!!

[x - Роман (Roman) 🇺🇦 | Слава Україні @GenZFanfix]

@zoespjorants oh you *get* it get it. it was such an odd thing to be up in arms about. no one bats an eye when ppl stereotype/misrepresent the rest of the Eastern Bloc, but all of a sudden you include a less common facet of Russian homophobia and its blasphemy. hmm

anyway INCREDIBLE FIC!!!

[x - Роман (Roman) 🇺🇦 | Слава Україні @GenZFanfix]

@_silverviper I do not think Russia was portrayed positively in HR, but it doesn't address the elephant in the fucking room, and that lets ppl forget the elephant is there. It's like saying Dallas Kent is evil bc he's a misogynist & a homophobe without pointing out he's also a fucking rapist.

The longer I spend in this fandom, the more upset I get over the undeniable soft power HR has given Russia.

Russia is committing a GENOCIDE. It was committing WAR CRIMES & crimes against its own people during the timeline of the show. it should NOT be glamorized +

[x - Роман (Roman) 🇺🇦 | Слава Україні @GenZFanfix]

If you have not already, I encourage you to research the genocide in Ukraine. As always, Слава Україні!

You should not be able to consume HR & GC w/o understanding the monstrosity that is the Russian Federation.

If we can acknowledge that HR has an issue w/ its Asian representation, we should DEFINITELY be able to acknowledge the issue with the Russian representation +

@rdhesselbrock @zoespjorants "USSR banned religion" Eastern Europe has some of the oldest churches in recorded history. Stalin's clergy purges actually made religion more prominent in some occupied territories as a form of rebellion. Maybe Irina was an immigrant? maybe she was one of the 5%? guys BFFR

@zoespjorants Keep writing what you are writing, and please ignore these people. We love a nuanced take and bullying an author is NEVER ok.

All my love xx

@zoespjorants I am bias, but I think you should take anything Russians, especially Russians trying to sugarcoat their country, say with a HUGE grain of salt. Heated Rivalry has given Russia a LOT of soft power and some are trying to use that to twist Russia's image & defend its actions
