Celebrating My Eldest Brother at 75

Today, 30th August 2026, I celebrate my eldest brother, Dominic Ositadimma Obi, who turns 75. I celebrate him not merely because he is my elder brother or because of his age, but because he is an exemplary human being.

When I was Governor of Anambra State for eight years, he never came to my office or the Governor’s Lodge for a day seeking favours, as many might have expected. He is a planner and contractor who builds homes for people, yet not once did he ask me for a government contract.

Whenever we met, he would warmly embrace me and tell me that he was fine. He would then solemnly remind me to keep doing what I promised the people and never bring a bad name to the family and my community. He would tell me that whatever difficulties he was going through, many others were worse off, and that I should do my best for society.

I later came to understand that this was not peculiar to him alone. My family members had actually held a meeting and resolved that none of them would take advantage of my position as Governor. They decided that whatever good name I was building for the Obi family and Agulu must be protected. The same principle extended to my children.

Today, at 75, my beloved brother remains deeply concerned about Nigeria. Whenever we speak, he is full of prayers and good wishes. He constantly reminds me that if I have the opportunity to serve Nigeria, I should do so with honesty, integrity, and the interest of the people at heart.

Brother Dom, I thank God for the gift of your life and for the example you have set for our family. Your integrity, humility, contentment, and sense of responsibility are qualities worthy of celebration.

May God Almighty, who has graciously been with you all these years, grant you good health, His abundant grace, and blessings.

Dear KAA,

I am writing to you as a person who has had wider and longer experience than you in media and broadcasting. Personality interviewing inclusive.

A podcast is an offspring of the above. First, I commend the gains you have made within a short time.

Secondly, to sustain this Podcast, you can only grow it with political conversation because it is election season and era, but you cannot sustain it with mainly political conversations.

I understand Nigerian politicians when it comes to media and politics. Before the election, they are accountable, but after the election, an invitation to appear on a media platform becomes a distraction; then you will start struggling with content.

On your controversy with the Obidients and the invitation of Obi to your podcast:

Immediately, I read the letter about how you have invited Obi privately without feedback or response and the pride in writing publicly to invite him. Professionally, you failed. You were arrogant. A core media professional will read " I have arrived posture in that your presumed invitation on your timeline.

KAA Podcast is not a court of law where an accused is obligated to appear before a judge or magistrate. It is not a police station where you must attend their invitation. In fact, by law, a lawyer can appear by proxy to represent you in any of the above.

You don't force or coerce people to appear on a TV or radio programme, not to talk of a podcast. You cannot even threaten anyone directly or subtly to do so. After an informal or private invitation, you can only persuade.

That is where your professionalism will be tested; persuasion and lobbying will commence. Persuasion can come in the form of your style of programming, topic of conversation or calling out your target during your presentation through your style of questions, introductory remarks and epilogue. You can also press on his handlers who can lobby him to appear on your program via your style.

If the Obidents took offence at your style of invitation of their principal, they are right.

You kept inviting spokesmen of Atiku and Tinubu, and you are inviting Obi to answer them when you can invite Obi's spokesmen like Tanko and Randy Peters or Obi's associates like Aisha.

You cannot do to Tinubu, Atiku or Kwankwaso what you did to Obi in your public letter. Although Obi's humility betrays him at times, possibly why you were unintentionally equating him with Dino, Kenneth Okonkwo or Daniel Buwala that has never won his polling unit in any election. You painted Obi with the same brush as professional PR retailers. Haba na!

One unique thing about the Obidents is that they only verbally mob those who come for them or their principal first. Fact-check it.

You erred professionally, and the Obidents are rewarding you by equating you with deserving cyber consequences

To them, you exposed their principal to public ridicule, and they met you with the same measure. The Obidents obviously use the law of Moses: an eye for an eye

Calm down, KAA. You can grow a podcast with controversy, but it is difficult to sustain it with controversy.

It is also a strategy to use a popular personality to grow your podcast, but doing it via controversy can backfire.

Don't be in a haste to arrive before your platform, when your platform arrives in class and professionalism, they will lobby to appear before you

In 2024, I ran an experiment in Apa-Agatu in Benue State.

I supported some village children there with Nelson Apochi to help them prepare for JAMB using Educare and teaching support. They all did well and are excelling today.

This boy, Oyishima Daniel Adewebo, was one of them. He scored 290 in JAMB and is currently studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Abuja.

This 19 year-old kid already has the sagging shoulders of a 47 year-old man with the world's weight on him, and he has already learned to not expect anything good to ever happen to him in life. All it took to show him a fork in his future trajectory was a fucking $47 tile cutting machine, and he's now going to hold on to this new opportunity and make a better life for himself - but there are literally millions of him out there that will never meet a benefactor, or that don't even have the skills needed to maximise this opportunity.

There is only ONE entity in any African country that has the power to carry out interventions like this in people's lives on a large scale - the state! A content creator can change one life like this and get viewed 10 million times, but a government can change 10 million lives like this without batting an eyelid! Only the government has the transformational capital and the incentive to do this in millions of lives!

That is why being led by people who don't work for you is a literal life-and-death matter! When we talk about neo-colonialism, this is what the fuck it is about! When you have a government installed by foreigners, which allocates billions of Naira in public revenues to enrich foreign intelligence assets like Gilbert Chagoury via transnational corruption schemes like the nonexistent "coastal highway" - this is the result!

Nigeria's money is not being used to invest in the lives and betterment of Nigerian people! It is being used to enrich white men in Washington DC who are already richer than God, with a fraction going to their local collaborators in Abuja! This kid and millions like him are the direct victims! Their future possibilities and bloodlines are being extinguished with poverty so that Peter McBillionaireStein and Matthew Von WhiteManBerg in Manhattan and London can increase their Q3 dividend payout by 15%. Neo-colonialism is not a victimless crime!
