Saudi Arabia is taking its stadium ambitions to another level with the new King Salman Stadium in Riyadh.

And this isn’t going to be just another giant football stadium.

🏆 Set to be one of the headline venues for the 2034 FIFA World Cup

The design takes inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s mountains, with the stadium intended to look like a seed emerging from the ground.

And the details are just as ambitious.

☀️ Solar panels integrated into the roof
🌿 Green walls designed to help cool the stadium
🚶 A rooftop pedestrian walkway offering 360° views of Riyadh
🌳 Direct integration with the surrounding King Abdulaziz Park

The idea is to make the stadium part of the landscape rather than simply placing a huge structure on top of it.

By the time the 2034 World Cup arrives, Riyadh could have one of the most recognisable stadiums in world football.

Saudi Arabia isn’t just preparing to host a World Cup. It’s building the infrastructure around it on a completely different scale. 🇸🇦

One of the biggest concerns among Barcelona fans is whether Rodri’s arrival could negatively affect Pedri, especially after what happened at the World Cup. But let’s break it down.

Barcelona play with a double pivot, where both midfielders have major responsibilities in building and progressing attacks. Each player has a clearly defined role.

Spain, under Luis de la Fuente, uses a single holding midfielder with two advanced midfielders operating between the lines and occupying the half-spaces.

If you go back to Pedri and Rodri during the Euros, you’ll see that Pedri was the player responsible for progressing the attack while also drifting into the left half-space. He had much more freedom because Rodri was behind him, and he also had a natural winger like Nico Williams stretching the pitch.

The World Cup was different. Baena occupied the left half-space, Cucurella provided the width on the flank, and Pedri’s role became much more restricted and less defined.

Even then, when Pedri came on in the World Cup final and was given more freedom, he produced an outstanding performance.

Rodri has already shown how dominant he can be in a double pivot alongside John Stones.

So imagine Rodri and Pedri playing together in Barcelona’s double pivot. It has the potential to be absolutely devastating. Nothing to be worried at all, especially if Pedri can stay physically fit.
