Campaigner for justice & better treatment of Young Minds in crisis (ASD, Adoption, Mental Health, Psych. ATUs). My daughter has been in ATUs for nearly 3 years.
@dwp@BBCPanorama DWP pay my autistic daughter basic UC+rent. After a query to pay rent direct, they stop ALL her UC (basic&rent). Now no money to buy food - their suggestion, contact a food bank. SERIOUSLY, this how we treat our most vulnerable members of society?
@DWP you pay my autistic daughter basic UC+rent. After a query about paying rent direct, you stop all her UC (basic+rent). She now has no money to buy food. Your call centre suggested I contact a food bank. SERIOUSLY, is this how you treat our most vulnerable members of society?
@BBCBreaking Same story, over and over again. Why can't the CQC and the NHS stop these incidents happening. Whilst there are good staff working hard and making a difference, these are not isolated incidents.
@BBCPanorama Same story, time & again. It's heartbreaking it's allowed to continue, brushed off as an isolated incident. The CQC know it's happening, yet seem powerless. The NHS (they pay for these places), seem to just cover their ears. The same happened to my daughter - utterly shocking.
@MattHancock@BBCBreakfast How ironic! Why could you have "stopped at nothing" to save your vulnerable mental health patients that use these facilities. Of course now you're also changing legislation to punish them even more. Hancock, point scoring & self serving again - a national embarassment
@MattHancock Like we got through your transforming care programme thanks to your inaction & complete lack of ability. I'm sorry, but I find it very hard to listen to anything you say anymore. You're like the proverbial broken record, constantly trying to score points & further your own cause.
@BBCBreakfast My daughter spent nearly 3 years in these abusive Victorian aslymns. Far from getting better, they breached her human rights and left her traumatised. Thankfully, the @CareQualityComm did listen to me. But our MH system is a mess and our nation should be ashamed.
The human rights of some young people with #learningdisabilities and #autism are being breached in mental health hospitals in England according to a new report.
It's a story #BBCBreakfast has told from the start ⬇️

Been waiting for answers from you for years about the way our young vulnerable children are treated by our modern day Victorian aslymns. Hopefully @barrygardiner will keep you waiting just as long! Sadly, you seem to have lost all focus and perspective.
Today is Ryan's 23rd birthday , presents this morning, then day centre, then a meal out , we will open cards this afternoon, if I put too much on ryan or dont stick to his routine he will become overwhelmed #Autism#birthday
It just goes on and on ... Berrywood Hospital "not up to national guidelines" with a "high number of restraint and prone restraint".

Mixed emotions, happy and sad all in one. Hoping that this is the end of abusive in-patient care services and the start of a new and happier life for my beloved Genny. But wishing she could be at home.
@bronSilverrose Really sorry to hear that Bronny. I hope that you are finally getting your life back and making up for what you've missed. My daughter just moved into residential care today and I'm hoping she is finally free of abusive institutional in-patient units once and for all.
Would anyone like to send ryan a birthday card, hes 23 in December, he loved opening all the cards last year from everyone on Twitter, he doesn't have freinds or familythe staff at his day centres aren't allowed to send cards , from a proud dad #Autism#SaturdayThoughts
Summed up perfectly ... "The system is broken"! Teenage children caged like animals for years. What has become of mental health care in this country.

@nhse@MattHancock@CareQualityComm What happened to the people involved in these failings? Where are they now? Have lessons really been learned? Are the people entrusted to your care now safe?

Major failings at Berrywood Hospital, Northampton. Whilst some time ago, have things really changed? Are those involved, still at large, safe and fit for purpose? @nhse, @MattHancock@CareQualityComm ... are you really sure?
