@cspan@SecRubio And if your parents came to this country, saying they were fleeing a dictatorship, and wanted their baby to be a citizen of a free country, and if it turns out you were here to participate in a group setting up a dictatorship in the US, then your citizenship should be revoked.
@samraskinz He’s a very talented politician and NYC will be lucky to have him for mayor. As for the character test, other politicians are so much worse. With each passing year, his failings look more trivial, almost quaint.
@XxJulieAnnx@DollyParton Why not consider whether Dolly, who you trusted for all those years, might be right? Have you adored Putin all your life? Or did someone who razzle-dazzled you 8 or 10 years ago change your mind about Russia? You can follow Trump without believing him about everything.
@tomant3000@Baddiel Zelenskyy’s demand was for one thing, security assurances. Trump wouldn’t give them. So the deal was, US gets minerals, calls it repayment of past military aid, and Russia invades again anyway. Why would Zelenskyy sign that?
@JamesAFurey Student centred learning does not mean they discover knowledge on their own. It means that teachers create learning activities that require students to use a certain set of knowledge, abilities and skills. When students can’t complete a step independently, the teacher teaches.
@Mann69Joe@JamesAFurey You don’t know what curriculum looks like now. Teaching to a script and to slides is required of many teachers. Suggesting this is done out of laziness implies teachers are making a choice. [Narrator voice:] They have. No such choice.
@Triple_31@JamesAFurey Are you seriously suggesting that a teacher needs more expertise to read aloud a scripted lesson than to plan an engaging learning activity that requires students to use knowledge and abilities provided in a flexible curriculum?
@Philomedia@JamesAFurey And the teachers in “control of classrooms” are being controlled by absent bureaucrats, lawmakers & power elites. It’s about social control through the education system. Children unengaged, unmotivated, disliking “learning” and “reading.” Little agency for students or teachers.
@sirDukeDevin They were here, they tried to warn us. The fascists were here, putting Project 2025 out for all to see but tldr, 51% of the 64% who turned out to vote decided they wanted fascism. And now we’re bleating Where are the dems? Why aren’t they saving us from the democratic process?
@collinste11 @Eduventuring04 Allington cited research showing that strong readers often do worst on nonsense word tests because they are looking for a close match to an actual word. He also cited evidence that reading text promotes fluency better than practicing words. I’ll see if I can find it later.
