Most of us are not good leaders
As a coach for over a decade, I have seen the good, bad, and the ugly.
kids crying
kids quitting
Fights in parking lots
Long friendships ruined
Youth sports can be a dark place, but you can be a light if you improve these things as a leader:
When you compare yourself to someone ahead of you and focus on their end result
I.e What they have vs what you don’t have
This is WEAK
To compare ‘the process’ of someone who is ahead of you
This is AMBITION
Don’t focus on the end result. Focus on what got them there.
@david_perell Everyone develops at different speeds. I would think learning at the skill level of the child is more beneficial. Why hold them down if they’re excelling at something?
@FitFounder I definitely need to work on the cool down part and incorporate more mobility into my workouts. Don’t have a problem with the ego lifting, everyone is on their own journey in the gym. Try not to compare to others.
I like that! Very true as well. If you find yourself saying to yourself, “if only I had…..then I’ll be happy” it’s a trap. Happiness is formed out of daily habits. As much as a yacht would be great, my sea legs are like a baby gazelle so Ill take the book. What would you recommend?
@AlexHormozi@dickiebush 100%. Sort priorities and be disciplined in your process. The concept of instant gratification is an issue here. 36 months is a long time for people to wait for something unknown. For me it’s about getting enjoyment out of the process and worrying less about the end result.
@david_perell I think this is one of the best things about taking time in solitude or even travelling alone. You start to get a real grasp on what is it you really Like to do on a daily basis. From here you can start to shape the life you want.
@NavalismHQ@naval Its sad that they want to ban books. We can use them to learn and take on different points of view to grow our own perspective on things.
@Softtop_67@Don_K_Williams I would say scanning is the source of a lot of problems. Scanning before you receive dictates decision on first touch, where to go next and so on. I defitnely agree with passing, most players play the pass from A to B without thinning about C
@Don_K_Williams @jc_playmakerWNY I agree. To many doc’s spend their day putting out fires than actually focusing on the philosophy and development of the players. It’s helpful to have clear lines of communication so they can focus on why they were selected to be there in first place
Don’t come into a team, wanting to be a great coach.
Come into a team, wanting to be a great leader.
-Better yourself
-Have a vision
-Develop culture
The rest will follow.
@thedankoe The easier option is to stay where you are, confined to the cage. There’s no problem with this choice, as long as there is no complaints about the cage. The funny thing is the cage is unlocked and you can walk out it at any point and create any life you want.
@dailyconqueror Yeah too many treat the youth game as if it is the adult game even though 99% of kids that play won’t get anywhere near the professional level. It’s not to say don’t try to make it, it’s to say develop a culture that suits the 99% not the 1%.
@gregberge Great teams do not fear failure, they embrace the opportunity of the challenge.
Fear can turn a good player into an average player and an average player into bad player.
Great players feed off it
Pep Guardiola says he has only reached the tip of the iceberg when it comes to coaching.
That’s means, WE cannot even see the iceberg.
-Never stop learning
-Never stop growing
-Never stop leading
Leave your ego at the door and look to continuously evolve as a coach
