If some people want to immigrate to the United States legally, they need to pay much time and energy to prepare for it. Besides, the number of green cards is limited each year. After that, they still need to pay another much time to wait for an uncertain result. #SOCL214

@KiaraP1234 Yes, I also notice that. Redlining policies are related to housing segregation. In my opinion, it's unfair that almost everything is related to race. #socl214

From this video, I learned some new concepts like redlining policies, housing segregation. And I know that some areas designated as red were where African American and other minorities lived, who were prevented getting home loans.#SOCL214

From the video, I know that Affirmative action tries to allocate educational resources and employment opportunities more equally, it is a good thing. However, affirmative action might result in new reverse discrimination. #socl214

I learned that “The Model Minorities” is a kind of stereotypes. In fact, it doesn’t mean Asian Americans have higher social position or more privilege. On the contrary, some Asian Americans maybe suffer more stress than others in their daily life. #socl214

I agree that everyone has privilege, but I can't totally agree with whole viewpoints in the video. I think if someone works hard and then gets a higher social position, he can be proud of the privilege he has. So, it’s also important to know the definition of privilege. #socl214

From this video, I know that maybe some people love their hair and they are proud of it, but some people think they have Pelo Malo, which make them not very convenient in their daily life. In my opinion, there is no Pelo Malo and Pelo Bueno, don’t regard it as a shame.#socl214

@KiaraP1234 I also noticed this situation from the video. In my opinion, most whites didn't changed their impression of blacks at that time is a main reason. Exactly, it was discrmination and prejudice.

From this video, I know that early pictures of black people and entertainment included criminals, slaves and plain ignorance. It was bad. Nowadays, many actors nominated for a lead or supporting acting Oscar are still white. There is no doubt that it's unfair. #SOCL214

From the video I learned that racism, sexism and ageism might be present and active at the same time in a person’s life. In this case, Intersectionality is a way to understand society by examing intersecting forms of discrimination.#SOCL214
