Our paper on marine benthic Be fluxes came out @ScienceAdvances! We show benthic fluxes from ocean sediments, rather than riverine dissolved load, may dominate the oceanic 9Be budget, complicating the use of 10Be/9Be as a paleo-denudation tracer. OA link https://t.co/u6KvjLUlta
🌊Exciting partnership! ECNU, IMBeR, and SCOR signed a Trilateral MoU, marking the continuation of ECNU’s collaboration with IMBeR and SCOR to jointly advance marine science research and promote sustainable ocean development. @SCOR_Int@ECNUER

Marine Be isotopes have been utilized to date archives and reconstruct paleo-magnetism and continental denudation. We here modeled the global oceanic cycle of Be isotopes, with a detailed analysis of the effects of external inputs, scavenging, and circulation on seawater 10Be/9Be

Thrilled to begin my new journey as a #Humboldt research fellow @AvHStiftung at @GFZ_Potsdam! Will explore the link between continent weatherability and metal isotopes in #basalt catchments. Exciting times ahead! 🤞😊

3) The benthic flux provides a resolution to the oceanic 9Be imbalance, and could even be higher than the riverine dissolved load! A new model considering the benthic source is thus required to interpret paleo-records of Be isotopes (& other particle-reactive elements).
Many congratulations to Prof. Derek Vance on being elected as Fellow of @royalsociety in recognition of his work in chemical oceanography, geochemistry, and planetary science through the development and application of novel geochemical methodologies.
