@Joshcoupe1@bridges_tom@LNER He’s got a point. They could have got off at Durham and used a diesel service from there rather than being dragged back to Newcastle to start again for a bus.
@munirawilson Are you dumb? Yes you are. If the line is flooded then what do you expect? It’s DC electricity coming from a third rail on the track. Last I checked water and electricity don’t work together. Unfortunately mechanical objects like pumps fail from time to time. 🫣
@ChimeraX2021@mdav15@SW_Help There is a considerable distance between the Windsor lines and the main slow lines.
Another example: there’s been many incidents at Clapham where a Gat Ex has hit someone on the platform. SWR services still run through when that’s happened.
@ChimeraX2021@mdav15@SW_Help An emergency switch off can be shortened.
As I’ve put in another post, on the WCML they had the slow lines opened as quickly as possible whilst they dealt with it.
Thirdly, the incident happened low speed on a Windsor service. It wouldn’t be severely mutilated.
@ChimeraX2021@mdav15@SW_Help Absolutely so. When I was involved in a fatality on the WCML they had the slow lines reopened in under 30 mins. So it’s definitely possible. That’s only a 4 track railway. Vauxhall is 8 track.
@mdav15@ChimeraX2021@SW_Help I agree. There’s 8 lines through Vauxhall. There is no reason to keep all of them closed during the incident. They could have had the main slow lines open at least to allow trains to pass through with smaller delays.
@AvantiWestCoast hello, what is happening with 9M60 at Preston? Was delayed to 2015 and has still departed. Now 1M18 has come into 4 and I’m not going to be able to get over in time. Will this train actually be leaving anytime soon?
@paulwharmby@XandF@railnigel I took Driving & customer very seriously. I think retirement has just given me an opportunity to speak my mind. I think it’s a question for Northern. The trains that I used to drive had to have doors locked if we were doing preps or tests or were stabled for a long period of time
@BRCWCo@paulwharmby@railnigel Just because it’s not good for the passengers doesn’t mean it’s wrong. High fares are not good for passengers but they don’t change.
