@cornbreadcowboi 2000-2012 was the golden era. Slow decline after that. Still fun after that but too much TV involved, every game takes 3+hours and the game revolves around the broadcast not vice versa. A game will have more discussion of playoff picture than the game at hand

@bivpack Plus I’d almost rather spend Labor Day weekend at the beach, watching us play at Texas on opening weekend. Can’t be worse than what we saw on Saturday. Maybe you sneak up and beat an Auburn. Then get back to the dogshit conference schedule of Cuse, BC, Cal etc

@bivpack Make the non conf schedule interesting. 1 home game vs a ECU/App, then 3 on the road vs BIG names. Focus on just making a bowl. Being 8-4 with 3 wins over 2 MAC teams and an FCS is useless, might as well be 6-6 with losses to Bama, UGA, Tenn etc. Just be a buy game and make money

@JEPopeIV Tired of getting kicked around by our peers like this. Dave’s lost 22 ACC games by >2 scores. Amato for all his faults only lost 3 games that way. “It’s all losses what does it matter” some say, but getting stuffed in a locker on ESPN kills program morale and national perception

@PackChat1887 We’ve had our moments for sure like ‘02. The last few away crowds I’ve seen at UVA, VT, even ECU were lackluster showings. I don’t think it’s just us doing this - it’s just a different time. Not as much fan interest in spending $ traveling for teams that likely won’t make the CFP

Was at the ECU/Bama game in 98. Bama stepped out on blocked PAT return, no call, ECU lost by 1, got hosed

@statefansnation But then again with a 24 team playoff with different setup of bids, my mind could change. Similarly I’d care more about a bowl win if there were only 6-8 bowls outside of the playoff. Something to hang a hat on

@statefansnation I think for teams like State who won’t sniff a natty, winning the conf is/was the main goal. Not quite like Duke winning it at 7-5 but I’d *almost* rather go 10-3 + win the ACC with no playoff than make it in as an at large 12seed and get smoked
